Question by Corbin: In the wake of iTunes ios 5 being a collossal headache, does any one know a version that works today?
Can any one point me in the right direction? I need help finding a version of iTunes that actually works after download. I am so sick of seeing error messages. My computer is a fairly new Dell 560 desktop and is more than capable of handling iTunes so that’s not the problem. The problem is after “successfull downloads” I am getting Error messages every time I try to install iTunes. I have uninstalled all those broken iTune downloads as well as everything that came with it, or anything that said “Apple” for that matter. I used the registry cleaner and all the blah, blah, blah tricks that go with that for ridding your computer of iTunes, after which I tried a fresh new download of iTunes and nuthin’, just stupid error messages saying it couldnt install. What gives?! I am willing to go back to an older version(which I foolishly deleted in anticipation of the new ios 5) But which one works with my type of pc?, I just tried version 9 for win32 and it told me I need a version of win64, I’m pretty sure my computer has both 32 and 64bit versions because I use the 64 google chrome and my girlfriend uses the 32 bit bing web surfers.(if that makes sense). Anyway I use Windows 7 64bit on a dell 560 pc which version of iTunes will work best for me? I cannot keep doing this trial and error method of finding a usable iTunes version because for one thing I am a snails step ahead of dial-up and these downloads use up a lot of expensive MB’s

Version 10+ is fine but will probably want to check this article before you go completely nuts if you are having any trouble!!

iTunes can be very difficult to uninstall properly because of a number of registry keys left behind by other pieces of software that it works with that also need to be removed. The article explains what you have to do step by step if you can’t uninstall iTunes using the ADD/REMOVE programs. If you don’t uninstall it properly you can get all sorts of errors when trying to install a new copy… even if you try to write over your existing copy. It saved me hours of aggravation and I did not lose my music!
