Environmental Superhero Earth Dog Featured Selection for Hot New Tablets

Market Heats Up for New, Smaller E-Readers: Googles Nexus 7, Amazons Kindle Fire 2, Barnes & Nobles Nook, Toshiba Satellite U925t

A series of new, smaller tablets hitting the market is fueling e-reader sales, giving consumers more ways to access recent eBook releases including The Earth Dog Story.

Consumers of children’s books have more cutting-edge choices with Googles recent unveiling of its Asus-made Nexus 7 tablet. Reports indicate favorable reviews with strong sales at the same time as anticipation is building for Amazons expected Sept. 6 unveiling of its new Kindle Fire 2 tablet.

And in a bid to challenge Kindle Fire, Barnes & Noble recently announced that it plans to launch its line of e-readers in the United Kingdom in October, including a new U.K. online storefront for the Nook digital bookstore. Barnes & Noble also cut prices on its 7-inch Nook Color and Nook tablet products to compete with Kindle Fire and Nexus 7.

At the same time, reports show that hybrid devices are rapidly gaining popularity in the technology market, with consumers seeking ultra-lightweight devices that double as tablets. Toshiba on Thursday unveiled its sought-after Satellite U925t tablet-ultrabook hydrid. Satellite converts into a tablet when a user slides the display back and up, running as an ultrabook on Windows 8 and in tablet mode to access Windows apps.

The Earth Dog Story eBook is featured on Apple iTunes and Amazon Kindle. Young readers are turning to eBooks in record numbers, and eBook readership now surpasses that of traditional books, according to reports.

Environmental superhero Earth Dog educates young people around the world about environmental issues affecting their planet. He teaches problem-solving skills through understanding and cooperation to students for whom the environment is a top concern.

The Earth Dog Story was first published as a storybook in 1992, then in 1996 in cooperation with the U.S. Department of Energy as a part of its Environmental Out Reach Program with Weekly Reader. Now, the popular childrens environmental superhero is making his comeback in app and eBook format with auto-narration to appeal to children of all ages. Earth Dog

Question by Nimz: Will Android tablets with “Honeycomb” be able to upgrade to “ice cream sandwich”?

Best answer:

Answer by Billy Bob
It depends on the tablet. Ice cream sandwich is supposed to be a one size fits all for phones and tablets. Whoever made the tablet should announce if they will offer an update to ice cream sandwich. If they don’t, and the tablet is popular enough, there will probably be a community made update once the source code for ice cream sandwich is released.

Inspect2GO now offers tablet based software specifically designed for municipal health inspectors. The centerpiece of its offering is iPad software for retail food establishment inspections (see http://www.inspect2go.com/ehs/). The software is now expanding to Windows 8 and Android tablets. Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) and Department of Health (DOH) inspectors conduct audits electronically, with no clipboard or paperwork.

While conducting an audit, health code violations and corrective actions are filled in on the tablet via checkboxes and notes. Photos and on-screen signatures are stored electronically. Permit and other restaurant data is automatically prefilled-in by pulling the information from a database. The completed inspection report can be sent while onsite as a PDF directly from the tablet. Inspection data can also be stored on Inspect2GOs cloud server, or health department servers. The applications are native, resident on the tablets. Therefore, a web or cell connection is not necessary while enter information during an audit.

Signage, a digital media display app for iPad, iPad Mini and iPodTouch, has been recognized as a winner in the retail category in the first competition for business apps on tablets. The competition is conducted by TabTimes, the online media brand covering the tablet industry.

Signage, by Meiotic Inc., is among a list of winners that includes Box OneCloud, iAnnotate, Citi Private Bank Mobile App and GE Annual Report 2011, which was announced in a ceremony at the TabletBiz conference & Expo, on November 27th, in New York City. Fourteen tablet apps, out of almost 100 entrants from the US and other countries, within twelve categories, have been named as the best apps for the iPad, Android or Windows 8 tablets. An international panel of independent judges comprised of notable tablet experts selected the winners.

“We are honored to be recognized among the list of esteemed developers and thrilled at the extent in which TabTimes covers the rapidly evolving landscape of cutting edge technology.” explains Paul Pacun, founder and CEO of Meiotic, Inc.

Ideal for marketing campaign deployment and event media, Signage is a playlist platform that can loop product or advertising media on iPads, iPad Minis or on large HD displays using an iPodTouch. According to a new market research report from Global Industry Analysts Inc., the global digital signage market should grow to nearly $ 14 billion by 2017.

Signage works in three basic steps: 1) create the media using video or JPG images; 2) upload the media to the user accounts admin console on the web and set the play schedule in hours, days or months; 3) push the playlist out to any number of devices to run as scheduled. A unique benefit of Signage is that the media runs locally on the device, without the need for a Wi-Fi or 3/4G signal for playback. Additional features beyond the multi-media display format include interactive sales demos, lead generation, and analytical data on file usage, such as customer interactions with the content.

Signage is currently available for download on the Appstore from iTunes.
