The rebates browser add-on development experts at Besttoolbars have revealed the results of their latest study. The firm has been investigating if rebates companies can make more from their plugins by analyzing user behavior patterns and assessing data from client projects. Its most recent findings show that rebates companies are able to increase their revenue simply by adding a price comparison feature to their browser add-ons.

The rebates browser add-on development team at Besttoolbars reached this conclusion after careful consideration of the online shopping process. They theorized that when a user shops online with a rebates add-on already installed on their PC, the user goes to their preferred merchants website, views product categories and then individual product pages. When the user opens a products page, the plug-in detects that a product has been viewed and shows similar products to the user, available from other shops at lower prices.

With a price comparison feature, it is possible to highlight the products that are offered by affiliate merchants with a rebates option. The benefit for the user is that they save money, while for the rebates company, users are motivated to shop through the rebates affiliate partners, thereby generating more revenue.

Valery Kuznetsov, Key Projects Manager at Besttoolbars said, We had suspected that there were additional ways for rebates companies to monetize their browser add-ons and through a series of experiments and test runs, we reached the conclusion that a price comparison feature was simple yet effective. It is very easy to add price comparison functionality when developing the add-on originally and once created, it will proactively generate extra funds for the rebates company for as long as the user is actively using the add-on. The comparison functionality adds an extra layer of usefulness for the shopper so it can also be said that as well as making money, this addition will actually improve the user experience.

The findings of this study are just one in a flurry of recent breakthroughs that the Besttoolbars team has made in this area. They also recently discovered that many online rebates companies were also losing revenue by not blocking out other third party add-ons.

Browser add-on development can help ad publishers to significantly expand their audience coverage according to new research by experts, Besttoolbars. A study by the browser add-on development agency found that this use of browser add-ons gave publishers 24-hours a day access to their audience and their online activities.

The tests found that online ad distribution could be extended to cover not only on websites in the publishers own network, but on virtually any other website the user visits with the simple addition of a browser add-on. In this way, browser add-ons were found to significantly help ad publishers to extend their audience by showing the ads on multiple different web resources, even those outside of the display network.

Valery Kuznetsov, Key Projects Manager at Besttoolbars said, Online ad distribution is an hugely competitive business so we were pleased to find via our study that browser add-on development has such positive impact. We were expecting to find higher levels of user engagement but were delighted that the add-on actually served to provide a much broader audience coverage for the ad publisher, giving them a lot more bang for their buck. The fact that the ads can then be displayed on virtually any website, even those not in the publishers own network, was also an incredible find and one that we are confident many publishers will be keen to explore.

Besttoolbars specializes in add-ons and extensions development for all browsers. Its Browser Add-On Framework allows for cross-browser add-ons to be built using common technologies using a single source of code to speed up the development and maintenance processes.

Valery Kuznetsov, Key Projects Manager at Besttoolbars said, We have been studying the relationship between add-ons and desirable actions such as search traffic volume and user loyalty extensively over the course of the last 12 months. Using data accrued from our work with many clients, we have been able to discern clear end user patterns. Two of the most interesting findings from this study is that there is a definite causal link between a companys use of custom search add-ons, as provided by our browser add-on development service, better search volumes and increased user loyalty.

Many search engines now use custom add-ons built using Besttoolbars browser add-on development framework. The add-ons are shown to deliver improved volumes of site traffic and make the brand sticker for users, increasing return visits and their overall brand loyalty.

A custom search add-on created using browser add-on development provides end users with a range of reasons to stick with the company including convenient web searching from their browser toolbar. Once installed, the custom add-on has numerous brand building functions, including the ability to provide a constant reminder to the user via their standard and preferred browser.

One of the functions thought to relate directly to increased user loyalty is the richer site interaction functionality all custom search add-ons developed through Besttoolbars are desktop apps that integrate seamlessly, enriching the search experience instantly. Add-ons can also include high impact video, audio, and text message communications as well as special offers, promotions, and relevant news items, all of which are sent directly to the users

Not too long ago, a feature like video calling seemed like a technology of the future. Today, thanks to Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP) technology, video calling is reality.

The most common form of IP video conferencing is the PC-to-PC call. All the user needs is a webcam, a built in microphone or microphone attachment, and the requisite software, and they can make video calls using their computer. In recent years, companies have introduced mobile apps that support IP video conferencing on a smartphone or tablet.

Many people are familiar with free video calling apps like Skype, but most free providers actually charge fees for video calls that include more than just a few participants. According to VoIP expert Rachel Greenberg, most business VoIP providers, on the other hand, offer IP video conferencing that can handle large numbers of participants, into the hundreds even.

A feature like IP video conferencing allows a business to include all of their remote employees in a meeting. In fact, IP video conferencing can give remote employees an experience that is comparable to actually sitting in a conference room. To explain how, My VoIP Provider has revealed 3 important ways IP video conferencing improves business meetings.

1.) IP video conferencing includes all employees in a meeting.

IP video conferencing is great for a business with telecommuting employees or employees who travel a lot. IP video conferencing lets employees participate in a meeting, even if they arent actually in the conference room.

They can hear, and more importantly see, everything that happens during the meeting. That means remote employees and clients dont need to plan a trip to the same location every time there is a meeting. In the long run, this can save the business a lot of money.

2.) A business can outfit a conference room specifically for IP video conferencing.

A business can use devices purpose-built for IP video conferencing to create a unique virtual conference room. With ceiling microphones, the business can capture audio from any area in the room. That way, it doesnt matter who is speaking, as every employee on the call will be able to hear them.

The business can also use an IP video conferencing display, so anyone in the conference room can see and hear everyone. In most cases, these displays are medium to large-sized TV screens that will give any conference a very polished and professional appearance.

3.) Almost any Internet-connected device can be used for IP video conferencing.

For remote employees and clients, calling into a conference is as simple as turning on an Internet device and downloading the conference software.

Many providers offer a piece of software called a softphone application, which lets employees participate in video calls. There are also IP phones available that are pre-built to support IP video conferencing. These are basically business phones with an added screen, camera, and speaker.

4.) Multiple cameras will help remote employees get all the details they need.

IP video conferencing hardware can also help an employee better interact with the business meeting. While the single camera setup works well for smaller meetings, a business might want to outfit their conference room with multiple webcams. With multiple webcams, an employee can not only view the speaker, but also any visual aids as well.

For example, a business can have camera A focused on the person speaking and camera B on a white board, and the employee can switch between them as necessary. This is much better than having one single camera where some information might be obscured.

According to an international survey of 3,500 application developers, 16% more app developers believe that Apples iOS will win the battle over enterprise apps than those who think Android will win. While this is only an opinion poll, the opinions are very educated ones. Also, the results of the survey are very likely to reflect the intentions of app developers to use iOS over Android.

The survey, called the 2Q 2012 Mobile Developer Survey, conducted by international IT research firm International Data Corporation (IDC), also indicated that developers are interested in expanding integration with cloud services, and are curious to see what develops when Microsofts Windows 8 mobile platform is released.

Of those surveyed, 53.2% said they believe that Apples iOS would win, while 37.3% felt that Android would win. This represents significant movement from last years 3Q 2011 survey, in which each company had the confidence of 44% of those polled.

According to IDC Vice President for Mobile and Connected Consumer Platforms, Scott Ellison, For developers, Android appears to be evolving more toward a consumer play, which in turn provides a key competitive opening for Microsoft in the enterprise mobile app space. This perception is one of many that affected the results of the survey. There were many other factors cited by the respondents of the survey. The majority of those in favour of Apple cited the current domination of Apples iPad in the apps market.

Another issue for many was the perceived fragmentation of the Android market, with numerous companies making what seem to be myriad Android devices. The sheer number of manufacturers and different devices increases the likelihood that an app could fail on one companys device. This, in turn, erodes the confidence in app developers that they will get a favourable return on their investments.

Another factor is Android malware. Apple seems to have the same exemption from malware in the mobile device world that it does in the computer world. Meanwhile, Android seems to be the favourite target for hackers and malware perpetrators. Androids only good news from this survey is that interest in their devices from developers seems to have stabilised this year, rising a surprising 2.9%.

The other finding that holds the most ramifications and consequences for the mobile app industry is that 83% of developers are committed to using cloud services and developing back end cloud solutions. This is the same as last years survey, but still an indication that apps developers need to start integrating cloud services with their apps soon.

Craig Aitken, Owner and Director of SmarterApps, says the information in the survey agrees with what his company has experienced in their interaction with app developers: Among apps developers, the confidence level seems to be a lot higher for Apple and iOS. Developers seem to have doubts and questions about creating Android apps right now, but nobody coming to us for an iOS app is lacking in confidence.

Aitken continued, The bottom line is that Apple is on top right now. Android could fight back with their Nexus 7, and the Windows 8 devices on the horizon are definitely intriguing, but Apples iOS is a known quantity right now.

Aitken concluded, Money doesnt lie, and the majority of apps developers are putting their money on Apple and iOS.

Mobile Magnus, the developer of the widely popular iPhone/iPad gaming app Leapin Leprechaun, has a brand new game in development. When it is released, the new Apple gaming app, Paddy Run, will feature the same lead leprechaun character fans have come to know and love but will incorporate more exciting banshee-chase scenes and breathtaking Irish scenery.

The chase aspect found in Paddy Run is a proven success formula. When Angry Birds Rio, a spinoff of the fastest-growing mobile game of all time, released its updated version 1.3.0, it featured a new episode called Airfield Chase that consisted of 15 new levels. Now, following a similar strategy, Mobile Magnus is maintaining its popular Paddy the Leprechaun character and spinning him off into the chase-sequence Paddy Run app.

A legacy game of Mobile Magnuss bestselling gaming application, Leapin Leprechaun, Paddy Run isnt the ordinary chase game, however. Its got an Irish twist built in. Leapin Leprechauns legions of fans will find in Paddy Run all the smack-talking personality they came to love in Paddy. Indeed, hell once again steal the scene in the starring role, but this time around, thwarted by a band of crazed banshees, hell assume even more of a spitfire attitude.

In this latest incarnation, Paddy gets all-out pissed when he discovers the banshees have stolen his gold, explains Mobile Magnuss lead developer William McCarthy. Banshees come from Irish mythology, where they are feminine spirits. Often depicted as fairies, according to legend they are omens of death that begin to wail whenever someone is about to die; hence the popular American connotation of screaming banshees.

In Paddy Run, Paddy wants his gold back something fierce, but his foes are not about to give it up without a fight, McCarthy relates. iPhone and iPad gamers will delight over the scenery as Paddy chases the banshees through an Irish forest and collects the gold they drop while hes in hot pursuit.

Collecting these golden coins is key to a high Paddy Run score. The more gold you get, the more points you rack up. But its the banshees trickery along the way that will make Paddy Run as irresistible as its predecessor, Leapin Leprechaun. Paddy will face numerous dangerous traps along the way that players must help him avoid. As he eludes these snares, hell let spew the feisty back talk that helped Leapin Leprechaun leap into the iTunes App Stores Top 10 list.
