Question by : How to remove “started using Facebook Messenger for iOS”?
I installed the Facebook Messenger app for iPhone now it says “[name] started using Facebook Messenger for iOS” when other people view my profile and I don’t know how to delete it.

How do you delete it?
This isn’t something that appears on my profile, it won’t let me hover over it and delete it. Other people can see it on my profile but not me.

if you’re using timeline, go to your profile. on the top right of it there is “activity” click on it and search for this “started using (etc..)” and delete it from there

Question by Shayn: How can i remove a few OS’s from the OS choice menu at windows boot up safely and effectivley?
I am running XP home and i want too keep it.

I installed windows 7 a while back, and deleted the partition it was on. But its still on the choices menu as default OS. Ive used the MS config method of changing the sequence so that MS XP Home is my default OS but it doesnt work, it still defaults the non existant windows 7.

The first screen i see when i boot is “Windows 7″ “Earlier versions of windows”
So i highlight earlier versions and push enter.
Then i get “Windows XP Professional Setup” (Which i also want to get rid of, and tried to do so by deleting “c:$ WIN_NT$ .~BT\BOOTSECT.DAT=”Microsoft Windows XP Professional Setup” from boot.ini but it just re-appears in the file on reboot)
And Windows XP Home.

In MSCONFIG with windows XP HOME, you can’t delete OS’s from the OS choice menu, you can only move them and set the defualts, which as ive explained, doesnt work.

Ive also tried the System>Advanced>Startup&Recovery>Edit method of editing my boot.ini file, but i didnt want to delete anything as im unfamiliar with the process and cant afford to lose the data i have on my hard drives.

Here is my “Boot.ini” details pasted in full.

All help appreciated.

;Warning: Boot.ini is used on Windows XP and earlier operating systems.
;Warning: Use BCDEDIT.exe to modify Windows Vista boot options.

Hey,

I had the same problem a while back when I removed the BETA Win 7 from my computer… I used a program called EasyBCD to change my boot options – and to remove some of the choices. You can find it for download from the companies site at the source link below.

Hope this helped!

Question by Pooblah: How to remove Windows 7 beta on already deleted partition?
I downloaded the beta build of Windows 7 just to check it out, but my mistake was doing it on my older laptop, and its graphics card or monitor didn’t have the best screen resolution, so it was pretty much useless to me…I used easeus partition manager to do the partition and after I endured the pain-stakingly long installation…I tried it out. I just figured If I went straight to my partition manager and deleted the partition I created, it would just destroy the windows 7 files since it was only on that partition. Well, I restarted my computer many times for the partition to take effect and such, and at when the computer is starting to load, it gives me the option to go to “windows 7″ or my earlier version of windows…It was a major inconvenience, and I wanted to why this was happening and what i can do to delete the windows 7 files if there are any left…? please and thanks?
my normal c drive is working fine on windows xp…I was just asking if there were just some temp files or something…its just kind of a convenience when my laptop starts up

You may have to format the hard drive and reinstall windows. In the future it would be wise to read up on it, before you install it. Somewhere it even said on one of the reports I read that you can’t install it over windows xp, as none of the drivers will be supported.

I would try going here, someone might know a work around where you wont have to format the hard drive and reinstal.

Question by : How do I remove a virus McAfee doesn’t detect?
I have McAfee. Since yesterday, four pop-ups appear at the same time: a window that looks like the standard “File Download” dialog in Firefox (but slightly different). It’s asking “Do you want to save or open this file?” Buttons: Open Save Cancel. It actually has my windows 7 aero theme with transparency in the title bar so it’s not a pre-rendered copy. I think Windows is genuinely asking to open or save the file because it actually tells me the address of the PNG. They’re located in C:/Users/[User_Name]/AppData/Local/Temp, and it refers to one of four PNG files with like 8 random characters as its name. It’s “Type” is “PhotoViewer.FileAssoc.png”. Even when I delete them from temp, 20 minutes later, four new 1kb PNGs are created and I am asked whether to save or open them. I’ve been using ALT-F4 to close the pop-ups so I don’t click anything inside. While the first time it happened, I was in Firefox, this is still occuring even with Firefox closed, even after restarting my computer and never having started Firefox. I also disconnected that computer from the internet. I looked at my task manager, but can’t make any sense of the dozens of processes running, except having 8 “rundll32.exe”s looks suspicious and I believe a 9th was created last time it popped up (the last time it popped up, it was still 9). I ran a full virus scan with McAfee but it detected nothing. I haven’t updated McAfee yet because I don’t want to plug into the internet: I’m worried about the virus!

Does anyone recognize this virus or know what to do about it? How risky is it to connect to the internet to update? Does anyone know if McAfee would detect this one once it’s updated? (i.e. is it a new virus out this week?)

Also, is it safe to move files off the computer with either a USB flash drive or an external hard drive? I’ve also been having a problem with windows explorer listing like four folders in the left pane and having the magnifying glass search anim run forever, and either the files never show up in the main pane, or the names appear but the icons are missing or generic. Typically it never shows up in “My Computer” but if you know the address of any other folder, the files will show up without icons. That problem is also occuring on a computer that has never been connected to the internet, but has received files from that computer via a USB flash drive (that wasn’t always properly ejected). It only started occuring on the second computer after the flash drive was plugged in. Are these separate or correlated issues?

THANKS!!!

Question by sonyvaio2008: How can remove the word “2006 google” in tjhe downloaded google image ?
I have recieved the satellite image from Google Earth by program “Google images Imaps downloader “.

But There are some word like “2006 Google” in the imagery”

I want to hnave original download image without text.

What to do, to remove this text from download image?

Best answer:

Answer by Daniel M
Technically, that’s illegal (assuming you want to publish this image someplace for others to see). Those words are there to enforce Google’s copyright on the image and to let the world know you got the image from Google. So, unless you want to launch your own satellite or contract with an existing one to get images of your own, you probably want to leave those words in there.

If you’d like to ignore that advice, then I believe you can remove the words using any image editing software, such as Gimp. You may have to crop the image or shade out the words (carefully) with a brush, but you can get rid of them.

well, when i press a key the message pops up, over and over again.
