Question by hokai: Using mixcraft to record guitar?
Ok to start off I have Windows 7 32-bit. I upgraded from Windows Vista. I mention this because I read somewhere that sound card drivers weren’t properly updated in Windows 7 and I wasn’t sure.

So I just got a 1/8″ to 1/4″ male to female stereo adapter to record my guitar using mixcraft. I set it up in multiple ways including:
1) guitar + adapter directly to microphone on computer
2) guitar to amp and amp headphone jack + adapter directly to microphone on computer

I’ve tried using line in on both and it still doesn’t work. I watched a video explaining how to correctly do it, yet it still hasn’t worked for me. Here’s the video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=shQX5LIcrG0

I pretty much went with the first setup. If anyone knows anything about this, please give a detailed answer. Thanks in advance and much appreciated.
@acgreg I tried my headset microphone and sound came in perfectly. However, using the microphone tab for the guitar, sound still did not come in. Also, I made sure that when checking the microphone tab for my guitar, I did not check the headset microphone tab. Just encase you wondered if I had the wrong tab checked for the microphone :) .

Click on the small arrow next to the Arm button on your recording track and choose the microphone. If you’ve already done that and you’re not getting any sound, test it with an actual microphone. Do you get any sound that way?

robinson-solutions.blogspot.com Fastest window cleaner-world record set by Terrry “Turbo” Burrows in BLACKPOOL, Lancashire, UK. Martial Arts specialist, Terry Burrows, aka “Turbo Terry”, 54, cleaned cleaned three 4ft (1.2m) high windows in just 9.14 seconds at the 2009 window cleaning competition-setting the new world record for the Fastest window cleaner. Terry actually finished the windows in a super-speedy 8.14 seconds, but got a one-second time penalty as he left two water marks on the glass. Terry ‘Turbo’ Burrows, from Essex, has a black belt in karate and he has been cleaning windows for 30 years said his success was due “to moving the body in sequence”. “I clean the windows in just 16 moves, and it’s pretty intense,” he said. Terry was in the resort for the Federation of Window Cleaners annual conference and decided to try to better his existing 9.24 second time. You might think that is pretty fast for cleaning a window that measures 45 inches square including wiping the window sill. But, what makes Terry’s record incredible is that the strict competition rules state that he must clean three windows, each measuring 45 inches square, and wipe the sill! There are time penalties deducted for any water marks left on the glass and the competitor is limited to a maximum squeegee size of 12 inches. Terry Burrows said: “I’m elated to have shaved so much time off my record. “It’s extremely hard, it takes a while to warm up and I drove 270 miles this morning so I wasn’t

Question by Nic Mortimer: How can I record the results from 1000 Microsoft Excel simulations, all in one column?
I have created a Microsoft Excel simulation. Each time I press F9, all of my random number cells change, and as a result, so do the IF function cells I created. Is there a way that I can get Excel to “press F9″ 1000 times, and record what one particular cell displays each time? If possible, I would like these results displayed down one column, so that I could work out an average of the 1000, or other statistical analysis.

Answer by garbo7441
Here is one way to list 1000 non repeating random whole numbers in column A and the resulting average in cell B1. Using a keyboard shortcut, you can run the macro on demand and create a new list each time.

Without knowing your ‘random’ number structure, the following example creates random, non repeating whole numbers from 1 to 5000. If you want a higher range of range numbers, change the ’5000′ in line 5 to a higher number.

Copy the macro to the clipboard:

Sub RandomNumberAvg()
Range(“B1,A1:A1001″).ClearContents
For i = 1 To 1000
here:
rNum = Application.RoundUp(Rnd() * 5000, 0)
If Application.CountIf(Range(“A:A”), rNum) > 0 Then
GoTo here
Else
Range(“A” & Rows.Count).End(xlUp).Offset(1, 0).Value = rNum
End If
Next
Range(“B1″).Value = Application.Average(Range(“A2:A1001″))
End Sub

Press ALT + F11

In the menus at the top of the VBE, select INSERT > MODULE

Paste the macro into the editing area to the right.

Close the VBE and return to the worksheet.

Press ALT + F8

When the Macros window opens, highlight the macro and click ‘Options..’

Enter a letter to be used as a keyboard shortcut and click ‘OK’.

Close the Macros window.

To create the list, press CTRL + your shortcut letter. Repeat as required.
