Question by banned_glory: Does anyone know some really good advanced “google” searching techniques?
Is there a way to search with a wider range? For example some times I need to search for car parts or things with years and wish I could search a range and not just a specific year e.g. search 1990′s or 199X and not just 1990, 1991, 1992,… etc.

Also, is there is way to exclude certain words from a search?

You can do some of these things:

* To get rid of a word from the search, just put a “-” before the word. So if you were to search for, say “George Bush -president” it would eliminate results with the word “president” in them (try it- it gives interesting results!)

* You can specify a custom range for pages you search, but for search terms this is difficult, as all Google does is return results that it finds. Searching for something like 199X would be difficult as few searches would line up.
