Question by Rachel: How Can I Block Read Receipts in GMail?
When someone sends me an email from their GMail account to my Gmail account, I do not want them to receive a “Read Receipt” showing that I opened it–I don’t care if it shows I recv’d it; I just don’t want them to know that I opened it.
In the “Help” section of Gmail, it stated that no one can get “Read Receipts” when they send email to others unless they (the sender) upgrade to a business, education, or government account–but the upgrade to a business account is only $ 5.00 with one month free. I’m having a difficult situation where I need to know what a specific sender is saying to me, but I do not want them to know that I’ve opened (read) their email.
Also, there is a service called readnotify.com which says that they can provide everyone a “Read Receipt”; is this true? And if so, is there still a way to block senders of email to me from getting a “Read Receipt”?
