Question by Shifat: Cannot run QUICKLY Python Program – Ubuntu?
I am trying to make a python app that basically views a web page with QUICKLY on Ubuntu 12.04.

When I do sudo quickly run in terminal, I always get this error:

(saikoroubuntu:5283): GLib-GIO-ERROR **: Settings schema ‘org.gnome.desktop.interface’ is not installed

What seems to be the issue?

Here is my code:

—-

#!/usr/bin/env python

import gtk
import sys
from PyQt4.QtCore import *
from PyQt4.QtGui import *
from PyQt4.QtWebKit import *

app = QApplication(sys.argv)

web = QWebView()
web.load(QUrl(“http://shifat.tk/apps/saikoro/ios”))
web.show()

sys.exit(app.exec_())

I’m basically using the code I found here: http://stackoverflow.com/questions/2566720/how-to-make-a-simple-cross-platform-webbrowser-with-python

You’re missing some GNOME configuration schemas. Try installing the gsettings-desktop-schemas package:

sudo apt-get install gsettings-desktop-schemas

and then try running quickly again. If that doesn’t work, you may have to install GNOME classic (instructions here: http://ibm.co/Rwl9ub ) and try running quickly from there, but I really don’t think so.

Good luck!

Embedded Systems Conference, Boston, MA (PRWEB) September 18, 2012

Total Phase, a provider of industry-leading USB, I2C, SPI, and CAN embedded systems tools, revealed the details of their new Guaranteed Value Trade-In Program this week at the Embedded Systems Conference. This new program provides an affordable path for developers working with USB to upgrade to more advanced protocol analyzers. With the introduction of the trade-in program, all Beagle USB analyzers can be traded in and a portion of the original purchase price will be applied toward the purchase of a more advanced Beagle USB analyzer.

“We realize that over time a developer’s test tool needs will evolve with advancing technology, and as their needs evolve most engineers accumulate a drawer full of older, unused tools. We wanted to provide an easy way for engineers to get value from their older tools and stay current with the latest technology, by simply trading in their old tools for new ones,” said Derek Fung, VP Business at Total Phase. “Our Guaranteed Trade-In Program will make it easier and more affordable for engineers to move into more complex USB applications.”

Using the guidelines of this new program, all Beagle USB protocol analyzers can be traded in within six months of purchase and 100% of the original purchase price will be applied toward more advanced Beagle USB analyzer. Trade-ins made within a year of purchase will have 50% of the value applied to a new model. In addition to cost effectively replacing used tools with the latest available models, engineers making their entry into purchasing USB test tools will be able to purchase the most cost effective tool for their immediate need. By relying upon the Guaranteed Value Trade-In program, engineers can insulate themselves from larger up front loaded expenses by defraying the cost of more advanced features until they are absolutely required. This program, coupled with our state-of-the-art Beagle USB Protocol Analyzer platform enables developers to move seamlessly from entry level USB 2.0 tools, to advanced USB 2.0 tools, to USB 3.0 tools and beyond; all without having to spend on a whole new line of test tools each time. “Ear Training 101″, a powerful music program for piano lesson students has just been upgraded and released by Music Unlimited Inc, a publisher of online piano lessons.

This music program is unmatched in its ability to teach piano lesson students the ability to hear melodies as well as harmonies and then transfer them onto the piano. The program works off of the tried and true adage: practice makes perfect. Music Unlimited Inc. CEO, David Sprunger, is the executive producer of this game, and his skill on the piano really shines through.

The basic premise is simple. The program plays one note, which is highlighted on the piano student’s screen, followed by a second “mystery” note. The student is then asked to click on the correct second note. In the first level, the notes won’t be farther apart than a whole note, but in the higher difficulties, any note on the screen is fair game. The most recent upgrade of this music program engages the student with up to 4 notes.

There is both an online version of this piano lessons program, as well as a downloadable version for both PC and Mac.

The game includes two modes: Melody and Chord. In Interval mode, the notes are played one after the other, with the piano lesson student choosing second note by ear. In Chord mode, a second challenge is added: up to four notes are played at the same time on the online keyboard. The program shows the student the location of one of the notes, and asks the student to find the other notes by ear. This teaches the valuable skill of picking out chords by ear.

The piano student’s score is tracked by measuring two things, the percent of the correct answers, as well as the time it takes to complete the level. Sprunger says that he included the timer because in a real life situation, a keyboard player must be able to act almost instinctively, picking out correct notes without stopping to think. There’s even a handy leader board to keep track of your best scores.

The game has a wide range of difficulty, and with 22 skill levels, anyone from a first year piano student, to a “Master Musician” can take something away from this program.

A box in the upper-right hand corner of the screen holds some pretty important instructions from Sprunger, including an explanation of perfect pitch and why it’s not the “holy grail” of musicianship. Instead, Sprunger details how a highly developed sense of “Relative Pitch” is much more valuable to the musician, and why every piano and keyboard student must master the technique of playing by ear. He defines “Relative Pitch” as the ability to recognize a note perfectly in tune relative to another note. This, he says, is what “Ear Training 101″ teaches.

National HARP Mortgage Lender Network, HARP Approval (http://harpapproval.com), responds to a recent report by the FHFA on an increase in HARP refinance volume.

The most recent Federal Housing Finance Agency (FHFA) monthly Refinance Report published August 7, 2012, shows HARP refinances for Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac mortgages with negative equity greater than 125% loan-to-value increased from 2,954 in May to 53,758 in June.

According to the FHFA, The continued increase in HARP volume is attributed to record-low mortgage rates and program enhancements announced last fall including removal of the loan-to-value (LTV) ceiling for borrowers who refinance into fixed-rate

loans and the elimination or lowering of fees for certain borrowers.

“The typical borrower who refinanced reduced their interest rate by about 1.5 percentage points. On a $ 200,000 loan, that translates into saving about $ 2,900 in interest during the next 12 months, explains Frank Nothaft, Freddie Mac vice president and chief economist.

Among other enhancements to the Home Affordable Refinance Program that went into effect, lenders became able to securitize HARP loans with LTV ratios higher than 125 percent starting June 1, 2012.

The first thing you are missing is the rest of your code. Yahoo ate it. And they butchered much of the rest of it as well.
When you have this much code, you should use a site like pastebin.com. Post the code there, then post a link to it here.

The second thing you are missing is…we need a hint. What do you think is missing? What is the problem you are trying to solve?
Does the code not compile? If not, which lines generate errors, and what are the errors?
Does the code compile but fail to run at all? If so…what are the errors?
Or does the code run, but not do what you expect it to do? If so…what does it do, and what do you expect it to do?
With that much code, you need to help us know what to focus on.

Give your answer to this question below!

Yes, I understand that. What can I do?

Answer by Chris G
The CDROM you’re trying to run requires Windows.  DOSBox isn’t Windows, it’s a DOS emulator, and Windows is not present within the emulator.
