IP Cores, Inc. (http://www.ipcores.com) has announced the first core of its new high-speed MACsec security processor family.

“Our new MSP1 core contains a complete implementation of the MACsec security protocol as defined by the IEEE 802.1 standardization body,” said Dmitri Varsanofiev, CTO of IP Cores. “The lightweight flexible implementation of the MSP1 core makes it particularly suitable for the passive optical networks (PON, EPON) applications”.

MACsec

MACsec is the IEEE MAC Security standard (also known as 802.1AE) that defines connectionless data confidentiality and integrity for media access protocols. It is standardized by the IEEE 802.1 working group. MACsec specifies the implementation of a MAC Security Entities (SecY) and defines MACsec frame format, which is similar to the Ethernet frame, but includes additional fields (Security Tag and Message authentication code or ICV).

MACsec uses Galois/Counter Mode of Advanced Encryption Standard cipher with 128-bit key (AES-GCM-128) as a default cipher suite.

Security tag inside each frame in addition to EtherType includes association number within the channel and packet number to provide unique initialization vector for encryption and authentication algorithms as well as protection against replay attack as well as the secure channel identifier.

MSP1 Core

MSP1 supports the NIST standard AES cipher in the GCM mode for encryption and message authentication, as well as header parsing and formatting operations on the transmitted and received packets, including insertion and removal of the SecTag with the packet number (PN) and an optional SCI field, RX packet validation, insertion, validation and removal of the ICV, replay protection based on the PN windowing.

The MSP1-PON option is tuned for Passive Optics Networks (PON) IEEE 802.1ae applications at the data rates of 10-100 Gbps.

MSP1 datasheet is available on the IP Cores, Inc. Web site at http://ipcores.com/msp1_macsec_processor_ip_core.htm.

Question by : Is “Sony 15″ Laptop w/Intel Dual Core Processor, 4GB Memory, 320GB Hard Drive, Windows 7″ a good computer?
This Black Friday there is a sale at Best Buy for a “Sony 15″ Laptop w/Intel Dual Core Processor, 4GB Memory, 320GB Hard Drive, Windows 7″ for $ 399.99 and I was just curious if anyone knew if this is a good laptop/deal or not? Also could anyone give a suggestion to which laptop, from any store, is the best deal this Black Friday… Thanks!

Sounds like a great deal to me.
Shame there is no “Black Friday” here in the UK
I hope the Windows 7 is a 64-bit version as a 32-bit cannot see or make use of the entire 4GB if you have 4GB RAM

by comparing this two
hp is better because core i3 is advanced processor than core 2 duo and in acer only graphics accelerator only available but in hp there is intel hd 1gb graphics memory
finally hp is rough tough so you can use it at any condition
don’t worry about seeing only 2 usb ports in hp there are many company made addition usb devices you just insert it and you can connect many usb device as hp use 64bit so feel free and joy to use any software.

Question by Uncle Pennybags: Is it true that if a Windows computer has 4 GB of RAM, it must be a 64-bit processor?
I read that somewhere that 32-bit systems can only handle up to 3GB.

Basically, I want to know how to tell if a computer has a 64-bit CPU other then a sticker on it saying so.

Best answer:

Answer by arcane
32 bit systems can handle up to 4GB

If you want to know the type of system, right click on my computer, hit properties, and it says right there, either 32 or 64 bit.
