Splashtop Whiteboard allows teachers and students to easily turn their tablet into an interactive whiteboard. It is built on top of Splashtop Remote Desktop, the companys award-winning app that enables users to create their own personal cloud to access files, applications, as well as view and listen to content, directly from a PC or Mac without the need to sync or copy files or applications across devices.

With Splashtop Whiteboard teachers and students can connect to a computer over Wi-Fi now from the Kindle Fire, as well as an Android tablet, iPad or NOOK. With this popular classroom app, teachers and students can view Flash media with fully synchronized video and audio, control their favorite educational applications and annotate lesson content with a full-featured toolbar.

Splashtop Whiteboard can improve student engagement and classroom management teachers since teachers interact with students at their desks or from all four corners of the classroom. Question by : Problem with Javascript Execution in IE only (fine in Chrome/FF)?
Here’s the code. I cannot edit all the content of the site, so the code gives all TR tags and all INPUT tags an id attribute set inside a for loop so i can then edit specific TR and INPUT tags via getElementById.

It works flawlessly in Chrome/Firefox, without throwing warnings or errors, but won’t even execute in IE.

My javascript code:

I agree, the code isn't ideal. However, the website is one of those done-for-you (how wonderful) deals.

The Syntax error applies to the Google Analytics code, I believe (ga.js), not to the code I've written, which I've posted above. I edited the code on the site to give IDs that start with a letter (i.e. "tr80" and "input80"). Code still not working in Internet Explorer.

IE pops the following error on that page

Message: Syntax error
Line: 1
Char: 1
Code: 0
URI: http://www.discovershortsales.com/scripts/ga.js

A couple of things:
1 - ID attributes must begin with a LETTER. So having is invalid. Might still work anyway, but no guarantees.
2 - Your method of "getting all the elements, then assigning ids to them, then operating on a few of them based on the id" is a bit nasty. You'd be better off to structure the page in such a way that you can easily get only the elements you want to operate upon. Also, if you need to insert more elements between existing ones, you won't have to redo all of the code. If you can enclose the elements you want to work on in a div or something you can easily locate that div, then get all the "inputs" in it.

eg

...

var onesIWant = document.getElementById('myInputs' ).getElementsByTagName('input' );
will give you an array containing only something2 and something3

Question by : Is there a small device with a screen which has only WiFi on it & can only use for the purpose of internet?
I am searching if there is already such an invention of a small portable pocket machine with a clear screen on it which uses only for the purpose of internet and works through WiFi connection. I don’t need all other stuff like the “google android tablet” and all other games etc. on it. I just need it to have a built in WiFi & it should only be used for the use of internet. Thanks for sharing your knowledge with me.

I’ve never heard of anything like that. I doubt a company would produce it because it is so specific and has only one feature. You could probably somehow load a commercially available tablet with a custom OS that is just the internet.

Question by Brad: Whats faster if you are using it as your only drive (bootable Hard Drive)- Compact Flash or SD?
Trying to decide if I should get a compact flash – IDE adapter or a SD – IDE adapter for my X41 since it’s near impossible to find a HD with the X41′s IDE connection but at 1.8″.

This would be my only drive, so I want it would need to run Vista / Windows 7 , and I’d logically like to go with whichever would be faster.

I’d have to think that Compact Flash is the better choice- higher transfer speeds should be possible. The CF format has been around longer, the media is physically larger and maximum capacities should be higher (although I’m not sure if the latter holds true anymore)

SD on the other hand, should use less power.

Question by whatz_upchuck: Photoshop “places” images only in grayscale???
I’m trying to place an image (either psd or jpg) into a jpg picture. The image to be placed is 2-color (blue and black). When the image is placed, the image is in grayscale. There is no blue. And the header of the window reads “(filename)Gray/8#”

Any ideas how I can correct this and get the blue I want?

Thanks!

Try changing the “mode” of your document. Seems like you find that option in the “Image” menu in Photoshop.

Question by : If I were to download a windows only game from steam onto my mac, would bootcamp let it run?
i have recently bought the game “Deus ex” from the online “game shop” steam, and since it is a windows only game, and my windows laptop is currently under repair, would the application “Bootcamp assistant” allow me to play this game on my mac OS X? Or would i have to wait for my laptop to be fixed, and download it onto there?

Best answer:

Answer by doh123
Bootcamp lets you partition your hard drive and install Windows so you can boot up as either Windows or Mac OS X… so when you Boot in Windows it’ll be just like any other Windows PC. You can install Steam there and play everything you want. You cannot run Mac OS X and any other software on it until you shut down Windows and boot back into Mac OS X.
