When I tred resetting and restarting my router it did nothing. I went hear to try and fix it.

It still tells me that I have an excellent connection to linksys, however it will not let me browse or do

Router: Linksys
Router Name: WRT54G

The Desktop internet works just fine so I do not know why my laptop keeps telling me that it is connected to the internet when its not.

Next to the computers in an antenna with waves going off it.

Below that is another grey line pointing down to nothing.

Question by : Please help with wireless internet (Picture Inside)?
-Unless it inside the laptop itself, I do not have a wireless card all I had to do up until now was turn my laptop on and it was automaticly connected to the internet.

-Please do not tell me to “check the connection with a phone.” I do not have a phone that has internet.

-I have tried unplugging both my router and my modem and restarting my router 5-8 times now

-It tells me that I am connected, but I am not.

-The Internet on the Desktop works just fine, so I know there isn’t a blackout or whatever in my area.

-I cannot repair the connection, when I do it beeps and tells me it needs to connect to the internet.

-I do have it so automaticly pick up the IP adress, but when I type ipconfig into the laptop I get this error message: “An internal error occured: The Request is not supported.”

-PICTURE: http://img188.yfrog.com/i/helpr.png/

The “IP ADRESS MUST BE SPECIFIED” Comes up when I ping on my laptop.

Yes you have a wireless “card”. It’s just a chip on the motherboard in many modern laptops.

This issue has come up a couple of times on various discussion sites. The general consensus was that the tcp/ip “stack” has become corrupt. Fixing it can be complex and requires a lot of specific knowlege.

The easier approach is generally just to blow it away and let it re-install. You do that by removing the device (wireless card) in device manager.

Go to control panel/system/device manager and “uninstall” the wireless card. Then boot the machine. The card will re-install. As long as it worked previously, the driver on you machine should be acceptable. Then go to network connection and make sure the wireless card is set to accept dhcp (autoconfigure).

I don’t think the re-install of the hardware will delete the connection manager information where your WEP key (if any) was stored. You should just be able to connect as before.
