Question by Gus: How to replace a samsung series 3 laptop hard drive?
I got this laptop a month ago. I just want to know how to swap the hard drive just in case something happens to it. (Dies on me, want to get a solid state drive.) There is a ram door, but no hard drive door. I have no Idea why Samsung would do that, other then to make more money.

p.s he has an iphone… i deal with android so i dont know anything about this SO things… can some one explain whats that plz?

Answer by The Yahoo! Police.
It is named OS because that is where the Operating System is stored, however you can name it whatever you like – right click on the drive and name it ‘Hamster’ for example. MSOCache is a temporary storage area for Microsoft Office files. Panic not, but run Malwarebytes, Spybot, and some good AV to make sure he hasn’t left you anything nasty. Change your email password, or even get a new email address. If you are really paranoid you’ll need to format the hard drive and re-install Windows.
Men, huh?? We’re a devious bunch.

Question by : Can a Windows 7 machine have a FAT32 hard drive?
I’m planning to upgrade my Windows 98 SE into Windows 7, so can Windows 7 have a FAT32 hard drive? Also, can you guys tell me what I must do first before installing Windows 7 (such as backing up my documents etc.), and don’t nag about irrelevant things like “Your windows 98 stuff won’t work with Windows 7″ please.
The machine was actually designed for windows 2000/XP, so I think it might be able to handle Windows 7.

Yes, it can, but if your computer ran W98SE, it probably won’t be able to run Windows 7.

There should be an office program already on the Netbook. I am not sure if an external hard drive would work with one of these.

Question by Amit K: Hard drive with “Windows 7″ from my laptop not showing up in my other XP machine.?
My Toshiba laptop has Windows 7 in it with FINGER PRINTING PASSWORD. After scanning my finger or entering BIOS password my hard disk unlocks and I can use my laptop. Now that laptop is dead because if its motherboard. The hard disk is working fine. I purchased SATA USB cable and attached the Toshiba hard disk to my other system which has XP through the USB port. It shows that a new hardware is installed and is ready to use but it doesn’t show up in my computer or disk management. I guess I have to unlock (by using BIOS password) it first and then only will be able to use it but I don’t see the hard disk anywhere then how would I enter the password?

I don’t think it’s a cable problem because the hard drive is making sound like it is working and in the XP machine it shows that the hard drive is installed and ready to use.

I really need to extract the data from my Toshiba hard drive otherwise I am doomed.
Thanks for any help. Please let me know if you need any more information.

Answer by Adrian
You may be in trouble if the hard drive is encrypted. Most laptops do that, but the encryption code is actually on the hard drive itself, in it’s firmware. The only way to open it is to send it back to the vendor and get them to open it up.
Another option would be to find a similar laptop, and try to “open” the hard drive via the bios, and leave it open.
