Question by Tiny: What is a good monitor to use for graphic design? Asking professionals?

Best answer:

Answer by rickrudge
Hello Tiny,

Get the largest size that you can afford. I’ve heard that CTRs are slightly better than LCD as far as matching the colors better. However, LCDs are still great.

Q&A: Am I on good track to learn?

Question by Sebas: Am I on good track to learn?
I am a HUGE beginner in programming and most pf the things I know are in python, but I want to develop Android apps. Right now I am reading “Hello Android” by Ed Laurette and also “Thinking in Java (3rd edition)” by Bruce Beckel. Are this books going to help me? Also, “Hello Android” is based on Android 2 but current release is Android 2, will there be a lot of differences? Any advice from anyone I would really appreciate it. Thank you.

Answer by Justin H
I think you are trying to do too many things at once. Android applications are written in Java, so you should know Java fairly well before trying to learn Android. Trying to learn both at once will likely lead to confusion and unnecessary frustration.

I recommend this free resource for learning Java:

Question by : Is the Sylvania 7″ netbook a good deal?
I want to get a small laptop computer for cheap. I only want to use it to go on wi-fi occasionally, but mostly to use Word (or a similar word processor program) when I’m away from my computer at home. I saw the Sylvania 7″ netbook, which some people refer to as the 7″ Chinese netbook.

Here’s one of the many links I found for it: http://www.prosourcewireless.com/products/Windows-7-inch-Mini-Netbook-Black.html

I know little to nothing about computers. I kept finding this one around for about $ 88 to $ 99, and even thought I think 2GB memory is extremely small, I could always work off an external hard drive. I don’t know how fast this computer will be, though. But the only other small-ish computers I found are the Dell Inspiron ( http://www.dell.com/us/business/p/inspiron-mini1012/pd?refid=inspiron-1012&baynote_bnrank=0&baynote_irrank=0&~ck=baynoteSearch&isredir=true ) and the HP Mini ( http://www.hp.com/united-states/campaigns/mini1000/alt.html?jumpid=re_r602_hpmini_alt_redirect_main#/Main/ ) .

So, my question is, is the Sylvania 7″ netbook a good deal? I really don’t want to spend the $ 300 on either a Dell or HP, since I won’t be using the netbok much. However, if it’s a total piece of crap, I’d rather get the Dell or HP.

Also, if it’s the Slyvania or nothing, is it worth it at all?

Thanks! :)

Answer by Remnant~
Hey Sarah :) If your just planning to use the Sylvania for word then it should be fine! However if you want to use a more powerful netbook I’d recommend the Dell. Since you won’t be using it a ton the Slyvania should be fine.

Answer by Conan
If you get one of the Athlon, Athlon II, or Phenom processors, you’ll be much better off than if you get the Sempron. Then it will be enough for WoW, but if you want to take full advantage of the graphics capabilities of any high-end game released in 2009 or later, you will want better video than the radeon HD3650 will give you.

I have a 3650 now, and I had to turn down the video settings in Sacred 2.
