1. Connect your drive to the Mac. If you have an internal hard drive, follow Apple”s instructions for installing it in your machine. If you have an external USB or FireWire hard drive, plug the drive into a port and power it up.
If you are using a Flash drive, simply plug it into the USB port. If the drive is already formatted, OS X will mount it, and it will appear on the Desktop. If OS X cannot read the drive”s format (or if it is not formatted), OS X will prompt you to partition and format it.
2. Launch the Disk Utility application if it has not already launched.

3. Choose the disk you wish to partition from the list in the left pane, and then click on the Partition button. The current partition information, if there is any, will appear in the right pane of the window.

4. Choose the Volume Scheme from the drop-down menu in the right pane of the screen. If you choose to create multiple partitions, you can resize the partitions by dragging the divider between them on the screen, or clicking on an individual partition and entering the size in the Size field.

5. Enter the Name of each partition, and choose the Format from the drop-down menu. If you want to use the partitions on Windows machines, make sure to choose FAT as the format type.
6. If you would like to boot from either of the partitions, click on the Options button. If you would like to boot an Intel Mac, choose the GUID Partition Table. If you would like to boot a PowerPC, choose the Apple Partition Map. If you would like to boot a Windows computer, choose Master Boot Record. Once you are done, clickOK.

7. When you are satisfied with the settings, click Apply. OS X will unmount the disk, repartition it, and mount the partitions on the Desktop.
Formatting a Disk
1. Choose the partition you would like to format from the list of partitions and drives in the left pane.
2. Click the Erase button.

3. If security is an issue, click on the Security Options button. You will be given additional erase options, including performing a zero-fill, and performing multiple-pass erases. Choose the option that suits you and click OK.

4. When you are satisfied with the settings, click the Erase button near the bottom of the window. OS X will unmount the partition and perform the erase actions you selected. When it is done, it will re-mount the partition.
5. Repeat steps 1-4 for additional partitions and disks you would like to erase.
When you are done, if you would like to shut down, disconnect, or eject the disks, don”t forget to unmount them so your data does not get damaged. To do this, you can drag the disk images on your Desktop to the trash.

London, UK (PRWEB) August 26, 2004

Full-service interactive marketing agency, New Media Maze http://www.newmediamaze.com is to promote the DVD release of sci-fi, Pitch Black Special Edition and DVD and video release of The Chronicles of Riddick: Dark Fury.

The animated Dark Fury, directed by Peter Chung (Animatrix, Matriculated, MTV Aeon Flux) and the special effects cut version of the original Riddick: Pitch Black, Pitch Black Special Edition, released by Universal Pictures UK http://www.universalpictures.co.uk on the 16th of August, 2004.

The campaign primarily targets males aged 16-34 and the massive niche market of sci-fi and cult film fans. New Media Maze commenced pre-campaign activity in mid-July, by announcing the release of the titles to their database of key film reviewers with resulting news items published across a range of target sites. The soft launch online campaign commenced two weeks prior to the DVDs’ release, and will continue reaching audiences for two weeks after the launch.

Michelle Byrne, Account Director at New Media Maze comments, “We have created the official microsite for the release and partnered with MyMovies.net http://www.mymovies.net to host and promote the microsite at http://www.mymovies.net/riddick”. However we are delivering the microsite to the core target audience in a much more hard hitting way through the use of subsites technology http://www.subsites.co.uk which launches the microsite underneath a host site. The microsite will be delivered to individuals visiting sites such as FHM, Maxim and T3 for example throughout the release period.

“We will also be using the recently launched advert format ‘Sublines’ on Empire Online and Sci Fi UK to deliver the campaign in a highly creative and effective way. The Subline is a Pitch Black and Dark Fury branded advert line that floats below browser and above the host website and incorporates reveal features. The Subline features and streams the two product trailers, has links to purchase and links to the official microsite,” adds Byrne.

“New Media Maze have implemented an extensive online public relations and promotions campaign across more than 80 targeted websites in the UK, reaching an estimated 12 million individuals within the target demographic. This includes offering exclusive DVD extras clips to some of the largest websites in the UK, such as MSN.co.uk, BT Yahoo, Blueyonder, Wanadoo and SFX.

“Our primary objective is to raise mass awareness; creating a buzz around both must own DVD titles which are prequels to the much anticipated theatrical release of The Chronicles of Riddick on the 27th of August, 2004.

“Perhaps the most challenging aspect of the campaign, was to design creative that incorporated the key art of both titles; The Chronicles of Riddick: Dark Fury’s key art is animation whereas the Pitch Black’s key art is dark and has more of sci-fi look and feel to it.” “New Media Maze has delivered on both counts and the official microsite and the Subline ads looks great; both will be used to collect opt-in names to be used to market the DVD release of The Chronicles of Riddick,” adds Nickie Everett, Product Manager at Universal Pictures Video.

Participants who visit the microsite at http://www.mymovies.net/riddick will have the chance to win a luxury weekend for two to Iceland including flights, hotels and day trips. New Media Maze is also giving away X-Boxes and X-Box 2 games of Chronicles of Riddick: Return to Butcher as competition prizes on major sites.

Question by Twojuly82: Is it easy to format a Mac computer? Help me with Mac.?
Okay… that’s not the only question I have.
I’m planning to get a new computer, preferrably an Apple, in the next month or so. But, I’m so accustomed in using a regular Windows OS computer.

Now, I believe Apple is acutally a better OS than Windows. I just don’t know user-friendliness of it.

- Can it be formatted if a virus infects it?
- Can I search for files the same way as I do with windows?
- What would be the trouble some, but essential, this that I should learn about Apple computers?

* Any piece of information is accepted. I just don’t want to dive in onto buying with so little info with me.

* Do a comparison, if you must, with Windows OS.
Thanks.

well of course it can. as long as you have the restore disk you should be ok. or you just buy the operating system and if you get a virus you can always reboot it. well basically i think you should just get it and use it. you are going to get accustomed to it.

Question by Kathleen H: How can i format a cell in Microsoft Excel to automaticly subtract 17%?
How can i format a cell in Microsoft Excel to automaticly subtract 17%?

Best answer:

Answer by Frank Pytel
Type in any cell

=a1*.83

Where a1 is the cell you wish to calculate. A better way to accomplish this would be to do the following.

=a1*b1

Where a1 is the cell you wish to calculate and b1 represents the percentage you would like to calculate. B1 should be entered in decimal format. You can format the cell to reflect percentage by right clicking on the cell and select Format Cells. Go to the Number tab in the dialog box and select Percentage. If you select to view as a percentage and you enter 83 the percentage will reflect 8300% where .83 will represent 83%. To determine the percentage you subtract, in your example, 100 – 17 = 83. Just put a decimal in front of the result of the calculation
