Bellevue, WA (PRWEB) October 02, 2012

The first major FTP client to feature Microsoft’s ribbon control and support IPv6 has been released as FTP Voyager 16, according to RhinoSoft, a leading secure file transfer vendor.

“This release resets the usability bar for FTP clients the same way Microsoft Office’s ‘ribbon release’ reset the bar for productivity suites,” said Senior Software Architect Doug Papenthien, project lead for the FTP Voyager revamp.

FTP Voyager’s ribbon avoids the clutter found in legacy FTP clients that still use both a menu structure and toolbars to represent the same commands.

“Developers call that the belt-and-suspenders approach,” continued Papenthien. “End users just think it’s complicated.”

Other FTP Voyager interface improvements include a streamlined scheduler experience, improved backup wizard, and better folder synchronization. Additional improvements include native support for 64-bit computing, IPv6 support for FTP, SFTP and FTPS, and faster performance through multi-threaded transfers.

“Under the covers FTP Voyager is built more like a scheduler with an FTP client than an FTP client with a scheduler,” said Papenthien. “It also shares some components with our Serv-U FTP Server, which helps us develop more efficiently by reducing the number of codebases we need to support.”

This release also consolidated previous “Standard” and “Secure” editions of FTP Voyager into a single edition which includes all available features.

“One goal of this release was to give people running legacy FTP clients such as WS_FTP

Question by BJ W: Why does Windows Explorer restart each time I open my “Downloads” folder?
Each time I open my “downloads” folder, windows explorer restarts. This is really annoying and I want to know how to fix it. I like to think that I am technologically savvy, as I have fixed many of my friends and family members computers, but this is beyond me. Please no answers like “Ditch vista and run windows 7″ as I am a 15 year old kid and can’t just spring for a whole new OS out of the blue. I am running 32 Bit Windows Vista, SP 2, everything is up to date as of 10/23/2010. All help is appreciated.

There could possibly be something that corrupted the folder, especially if it’s a shortcut on your desktop. Try navigating to the folder via Computer. If that doesn’t work, just delete it and create a new Downloads folder.

Right Click on your C partition

Select properties

Click on the Disk Cleanup

If prompted by UAC, then click on Yes.

Check the Previous Windows installations box, and click on OK.

Click on Delete Files.

When Disk Cleanup finishes, the C:\Windows.old folder will be deleted.

Done. ;)

Question by bubs_luvs_kelly: How do I delete a folder on Windows 7 “Administrator Permission”?
I made a folder to quickly chuck some pictures in, maybe an hour ago.
I have no use for this folder anymore so I went to delete it.
First this message appears:
“You’ll need to provide administrator permission to delete this folder”
I click continue and this appears:
“You need permission to perform this action.
You require permission from Kelly-PC/Kelly to make changes to this folder”

I am the only user and have administrator privileges.

Help?

Question by ThinkinDifferently: My Macbook has the flashing question mark folder and can’t seem to find the hard drive, is it toast?..?
I purchased the 13″ Macbook in May of 2006. For almost the entire first year I had no problem, but in February of 2007 things started going crazy! It started with the Apple OS X update. Wrong choice! Kernel Panic set in and I had my first encounter with the flashing “?” folder. Well, after losing all the stuff on my hard drive, I was able to reload OS X and finally boot it up. 3 months later in May, (now a year from the time I had bought the Macbook), the iSight camera went out and has never worked again, despite my many efforts to repair it via help from various internet forums. Fast forward to September of ’07, this time my battery goes dead. I got the black “X” over the battery and it is considered dead, so I’ve been running it from the adapter. Now, this week I got the “beachball of death” and then had to force a restart, then the “?” was back. Now my hard drive is’nt showing up! What can I do?.. Where’s my HD? Why won’t Mac stand by their product?.. Please help if ya can!

Re-install the system software, if that doesn’t work I hope it is under warranty…if not bring to your nearest apple store anyway, they are very helpful there

Question by Chad W: How to change Mac OS X folder icons?
How do you replace a Mac OS X folder icon from a .icns file. I know you can use “Candy Bar” to change program icons, but I can see how to change individual folder icons.

Best answer:

Answer by balplaya4404
Choose the icns file you’d like and copy it(command+C). Then choose the folder and hit (control+mouse click) and then select get info. You will then see the folder icon in the top left of that get info window. Click on it so that it is highlighted blue. Then just paste(command+V). If done correctly the icon should change.

Question by Tak: when i open a certain folder on my computer to delete a file i get an error message and the window must close?

do you think it is a virus? if so scan that folder with your antivirus program, it should be able to remove the affected file. if that doesen’t work, back up all of your important files and then go to http://belarc.com/free_download.html and download belarc and let it “dig up” all of your product codes for you so you will have them, print them out, and reinstall your OS. that should fix it for good, unless you return to the same programs that you got it screwed up from.
