If your trying to copy a dvd, then download a program called DVDshrink. It’s completely free, burns nearly every movie (except some of the most recent ones) and you can choose the compression settings or delete the menu, ect. And, it’s quick!

Question by Cody: How to “Rip” DVD’s on Windows 7?
I went to save some movies onto my HP Pavilion, but when I opened Media Player, I couldn’t find the Rip button. I’m not too sure if it’s still called ripping, or if there is a new name for it, but can anyone tell me how to save movies from a DVD to my laptop using Windows 7?

Thanks!

It only supports ripping of music as there are too many legal issues with ripping movies. So, when you pop in the movie DVD it recognizes it as such and doesn’t activate the RIP area.

Technology2Reality’s Answer:

Your best bet at this time is to check out a website like DVD Copy Software Reviews  or other similar sites that cater specifically to DVD “ripping”, copying and backing-up.

London, UK (PRWEB) August 26, 2004

Full-service interactive marketing agency, New Media Maze http://www.newmediamaze.com is to promote the DVD release of sci-fi, Pitch Black Special Edition and DVD and video release of The Chronicles of Riddick: Dark Fury.

The animated Dark Fury, directed by Peter Chung (Animatrix, Matriculated, MTV Aeon Flux) and the special effects cut version of the original Riddick: Pitch Black, Pitch Black Special Edition, released by Universal Pictures UK http://www.universalpictures.co.uk on the 16th of August, 2004.

The campaign primarily targets males aged 16-34 and the massive niche market of sci-fi and cult film fans. New Media Maze commenced pre-campaign activity in mid-July, by announcing the release of the titles to their database of key film reviewers with resulting news items published across a range of target sites. The soft launch online campaign commenced two weeks prior to the DVDs’ release, and will continue reaching audiences for two weeks after the launch.

Michelle Byrne, Account Director at New Media Maze comments, “We have created the official microsite for the release and partnered with MyMovies.net http://www.mymovies.net to host and promote the microsite at http://www.mymovies.net/riddick”. However we are delivering the microsite to the core target audience in a much more hard hitting way through the use of subsites technology http://www.subsites.co.uk which launches the microsite underneath a host site. The microsite will be delivered to individuals visiting sites such as FHM, Maxim and T3 for example throughout the release period.

“We will also be using the recently launched advert format ‘Sublines’ on Empire Online and Sci Fi UK to deliver the campaign in a highly creative and effective way. The Subline is a Pitch Black and Dark Fury branded advert line that floats below browser and above the host website and incorporates reveal features. The Subline features and streams the two product trailers, has links to purchase and links to the official microsite,” adds Byrne.

“New Media Maze have implemented an extensive online public relations and promotions campaign across more than 80 targeted websites in the UK, reaching an estimated 12 million individuals within the target demographic. This includes offering exclusive DVD extras clips to some of the largest websites in the UK, such as MSN.co.uk, BT Yahoo, Blueyonder, Wanadoo and SFX.

“Our primary objective is to raise mass awareness; creating a buzz around both must own DVD titles which are prequels to the much anticipated theatrical release of The Chronicles of Riddick on the 27th of August, 2004.

“Perhaps the most challenging aspect of the campaign, was to design creative that incorporated the key art of both titles; The Chronicles of Riddick: Dark Fury’s key art is animation whereas the Pitch Black’s key art is dark and has more of sci-fi look and feel to it.” “New Media Maze has delivered on both counts and the official microsite and the Subline ads looks great; both will be used to collect opt-in names to be used to market the DVD release of The Chronicles of Riddick,” adds Nickie Everett, Product Manager at Universal Pictures Video.

Participants who visit the microsite at http://www.mymovies.net/riddick will have the chance to win a luxury weekend for two to Iceland including flights, hotels and day trips. New Media Maze is also giving away X-Boxes and X-Box 2 games of Chronicles of Riddick: Return to Butcher as competition prizes on major sites.

Question by sexy_horny_dude: Is there a program where I can save DVD’s to my hd, then put them on like 4 cd’s? If so, what is the program?
I have mac os X tiger on DVD’s and my apple has a cd/rw drive. I REALLY need to get the DVD onto cd’s. I don’t want to go out and buy Mac os x cd’s because I already have mac os X tiger. If anyone has a program that they know about, PLEASE tell me. I know some of you don’t like apple, but this is really important. I MUST have OS x 10.4 on CD’s!

okay, a dvd format movie is around 2 or 3 gb depending on the length of the movie or the stuff like sneak peeks and whatnot.

a CD is around 700-800 mb

you can convert the dvd movie into avi or divx format, through using dr.divx, it will then be compressed to 700 or 800 mb, or even lesser but the quality will be lessened as well.

you can use a dvd writer, a dvd-r has a 4.7 gb capacity, so if you compress your movies and write them on a dvd-r, and you have like 4 or 3 movies each having the size of 700 mb, you will save more discs.

imnot sure if i explained that clearly..i hope i did.

–ok i just read thay you dont have a dvd writer, i think there are dvd writers that you can just plug in your computer or something. if thats not an option for you then i guess my plain answer to your question is Dr. Divx
