Question by ineco110: How do you tell the difference between android operating systems?
for example between android 1.7, 2.1 and 2.2.
thanks
for a tablet
logically, the higher numbers would mean better and improved versions, thanks
but i want to know how you tell which version a tablet runs, not the difference between them, unless the differences are specific changes that allow you to tell teach system apart

You can go to Settings -> About phone -> and you will see an option that says Android version and you can find the version there.

If you are saying the difference in terms of user interface, then its depends on your phone’s company. For example, Motorola has MotoBlur for its android phones.

Whats the difference between..?

Question by sonya: Whats the difference between..?
Android 3.1 honeycomb and android 2.2 froyo, I was looking at some tablets and there were two each one using one of thoes programs, the 3.1 honeycomb was nice, but I heard froyo is newer…so anyone really know the difference..

Best answer:

Answer by R.F.
Android 3 versions is made optimized for the bigger screen of tablets.
Android 2 versions and below were originally made for the smaller cell phone screens only.

Look at the version numbers. 2 comes before 3. That means 2 existed, so it’s older, than version 3.
Also, Android version names are in alphabetical order (also named after deserts).

Froyo (Frozen Yogurt) starts with “F”.
Honeycomb starts with “H”
So “F”royo is 2 generations older than “H”oneycomb.

BTW, “G” was Gingerbread, the latest Android version 2.3 before the tablet “3″ versions.

So, for tablets, it’s best to get Android 3 versions. 3.1 is the very latest version.

Question by Ben C: What is the difference between Windows 7 “Licence and media” and Windows 7 “Complete” ?
Hi,

I’m thinking of buying Windows 7 Home Premium for my girlfriends Laptop (currently running XP Professional) – And I’m a little confused over the differences between these two versions:

Microsoft Windows 7 Home Premium – Licence and media – 1 PC – OEM – DVD – 32-bit – English – £75.29

http://www.ebuyer.com/product/173787

OR…

Microsoft Windows 7 Home Premium – Complete package – 1 PC – DVD – English – £94.99

http://www.ebuyer.com/product/168373

She only uses it to browse the internet and play her music (Facebook, Twitter, iTunes etc..) – I would only need to install the 32-bit version on her laptop, no-where else. So, instinct tells me to go for the cheaper one (Licence and Media) – But any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks.

As far as I know, the two terms should mean the same thing, but I see a red flag on the first posting: It says OEM. This means it’s for a particular computer manufacturer’s hardware and may have been adapted for it. I’d steer clear of it, especially since the description doesn’t say what manufacturer. There might be something in it that tests that it’s on the right brand and model of computer.

Hope that helps.

Question by : What is the difference between Windows 7 “upgrade version” and Windows 7 “full version”?
I guess it sounds like a stupid question as it seems fairly obvious that one is just an upgrade and one is a full version … but how am I supposed to know which one to get? I currently have Windows Vista and I hate it, can’t wait to get rid of it, so I’m planning on getting Windows 7 soon. The upgrade version is a lot cheaper than the full version … which version do I need, and how does it work? How do I transfer all my programs, documents, etc from vista to Windows 7 when I purchase it and install it?

Best answer:

Answer by Mercuri
The “upgrade” version requires an existing Windows installation or disc. Since you have Vista, the upgrade would work for you, and you shouldn’t lose any documents or programs. The full version allows you to install on a computer without having a previous Windows installation.

In Windows 7, in |Task Manager|, in the |Performance| tab, under ‘Physical Memory’ – ‘Available’ and ‘Free’ RAM are two separate listings and separate values.

Technically typing, what is the difference between these two?

Best answer:

Answer by Taliesan
Free ram is ram not being used in any way.

Available ram means it is already in use, but can be allocated to another task should it be needed.
