Question by Icy: How do I stop my Android tablet from being recognized as a mobile device when downloading applications?
I have a Coby Android 2.2 and every time I download apps, particularly flash player, it’s prompting for a Paypal account as it is recognized as a mobile device. I tried following the instructions from a similar issue posted here but it’s only applicable to Tosh tablets. Please help…

Best answer:

Answer by ELfaGeek
FYI: Your Coby Android 2.2 REALLY is a Mobile Device. And, it would really help if you tell us the full name of the App(s) you’re downloading AND the website you are using.

“It’s prompting for a Paypal account as it is recognized as a mobile device.” is pure nonsense. PayPal doesn’t care what kind of device you have, nor does the website.

It’s the Website that is asking for your PayPal info because the Apps you’re trying to download ARE NOT FREE.

TIP: Flash is built-in to Android, so WHY do you think you need to install it from anywhere other than Android Updates? (<= This is a hint!)

Swedish mobile development tool company MoSync releases NFC-capability for Android development and future platforms. Developers working in the MoSync SDK can now be sure their own code is ready, not just for the fragment of models out there but for all future NFC-enabled platforms.

Today, only a small range of Android devices and a few Windows Phone 8 phones offer on-board near-field communication (NFC) sensing capabilities. This will change soon as many more device manufacturers and suppliers embrace this short-range radio technology. The NFC market is seeing immense growth in products and applications. More and more NFC-enabled devices are coming each month. To meet this demand, MoSync has now made it possible for any developer to write code that runs on current smartphones, even though most phones lack NFC capabilities today.

We have opened up to create apps which use short-range radio. When more platforms and their devices extend their offerings to also include NFC, our developer customers will already have the code for running on those platforms without modifying anything, which will save them both time and money, says Alex Jonsson, CTO at MoSync

More about the The MoSync NFC API

The MoSync NFC API allows any mobile application to share data, reading and writing, through the near field communication features of the smartphone its running on. This means that anyone can write applications that communicate with NFC tags, in accordance with the most recent protocols and standards (NDEF, IsoDep, Mifare Classic/Ultralight). This opens up for a whole range of possibilities for payment, personal identification, tracking, and similar close-proximity applications.
