The biggest challenge for teachers today is not the new technology of digital learning, it is still the age-old problem of motivating students, confirmed by JogNog’s ground-breaking survey of middle school teachers last year. From the results of this research, JogNog created the Digital Learning Day Challenge to motivate students with digital learning technology. By combining friendly competition with high-quality Common Core content, JogNog aims to make learning a lot of learning fun and substantial for the month of February. The school that learns the most wins!

The top three schools in the competition will win trophies and recognition on JogNogs social media pages. Schools win by having their students answer the most questions correctly from the games library of 60,000 questions, all of which can be accessed free of charge on Digital Learning Day February 6, 2013. Anyone can play by entering the code EKXAR7F into the search box on JogNog.com or JogNog’s mobile apps. (Games played for free on Digital Learning Day remain free to the player even after the challenge concludes.) Questions for grades 2-8 cover the entire Common Core State Standards from statistics to Shakespeare. Students will have until the end of February to complete the challenge and bring victory to their schools.

We are continuously amazed to see how students react when a little friendly competition applied to learning. We are pleased to make all the games on JogNog free for Digital Learning Day, said Stephen Smith, CEO and co-founder of JogNog.com. This is a competition to see how much you can learn, not how much you know. Every school has a fair chance. Let the school that learns the most win!

Digital Learning Day is a national campaign that celebrates teachers and shines a spotlight on successful instructional practice and effective use of technology in classrooms across the country. More information about Digital Learning Day can be found here: http://www.digitallearningday.org.

To sign up for this exciting competition and get free access to all JogNog quizzes on Digital Learning Day, visit the contest page at http://www.JogNog.com/DLD2013.

Watch for the top three winning schools to be announced on March 1, 2013 at http://www.JogNog.com/blog and on Facebook at http://www.Facebook.com/JogNog.

iDevGames, the leading website for iPhone and Mac developers, invites gamers to take part in a public vote to help select the winners for the uDevGames 2008 Contest. uDevGames is a Mac game development contest that requires teams to create a Mac game in just three months. The contest, an annual Mac gaming event, was launched on December 2, 2008 and features 20 games by Mac developers from around the globe.

The 20 game entries will be subject to public and peer voting, ending on March 12. Entries will be scored by the public (including participating developers) for “Best Overall Game.” Developers will also score games in six additional categories: Gameplay, Graphics, Audio, Story, Presentation and Originality. The winners will be announced on March 16 and will divide a prize pool of over $ 20,000 donated by the sponsors of uDevGames 2008.

uDevGames was established by iDevGames with three underlying objectives in mind: create, educate, and succeed. The goal is to motivate developers to create fun games for the Mac platform, and then to release the games under an OSI open source license.

uDevGames actively helps to educate Mac developers, and aspiring new developers to the Mac platform, in technologies such as OpenGL and Objective-C. In addition, the contest helps spotlight developers that create unique and exciting games for the Mac, as well as help introduce the best and brightest talent to game publishers.

“We kicked off uDevGames in 2001, and for the next three years, it made a fantastic impact on the Mac gaming scene. uDevGames has served as a springboard for many of our past developers into the world of professional game development. By leveraging their experience in the contest, whether they win or not, this year’s developers will no doubt contribute positively to the Mac and iPhone platforms,” said Carlos Camacho, Editor-in-Chief, iDevGames.

GameHouse, a pioneering casual gaming company, has selected AudioDraft to source new music for its upcoming iPad game. GameHouse has set up a contest on AudioDrafts crowdsourcing-based audio design platform, inviting the community of sound designers to create four engaging music tracks for the game. Each of the winning entries will be awarded $ 700.

AudioDraft is an online service that brings together sound designers and production companies. With AudioDraft, companies can create sound design contests that activate a worldwide community of talented composers. The winners receive money prizes, acclaim and visibility for their work, while up-and-coming audio designers gain opportunities to showcase their skills to a global audience.

Great background music is one of the most important factors in a compelling gaming experience, said Mr. Olli Sinerma, Game Producer at GameHouse. With AudioDraft, we have access to a tremendous range of styles and ideas, and can work through the creative process with many composers at the same time. This gives us a huge amount of high-quality tracks from which we can pick the winner, and ensures that we get exactly the right atmosphere for the game.

For production companies, AudioDraft not only provides extremely fast access to high-quality work, but also enables audio design projects to be turned into exciting social marketing campaigns that attract input from the entire community of a company’s audience.

With the AudioDraft platform, GameHouse can get instant feedback on contest entries from their audiences. Fans can listen, like and comment on each submitted track during the contest. Fun and creative contests bring visibility for the game studio and the participating artists, in addition to enabling dedicated fans to voice their opinions.

“Working with multiple designers brings access to a collective creativity along the lines of what has been termed ‘the wisdom of crowds’ by James Surowiecki, said Mr. Teemu Yli-Hollo, CEO, AudioDraft. This means that you can manage a vast amount of know-how with minimal effort, and the result will be exactly what you are looking for.

AudioDraft contests allow companies, producers or individual artists to source any kind of sound production, from video game music to personal sound branding. The principles are very straightforward: Companies set the amount of prize money and then get to pick the winning production from among the contest entries. The winning artist grants the company permission to use the audio work according to the license terms specified when creating the contest.

“iPhone users have always been boisterous about their affinity for their smartphones. This contest was created to give Android advocates a soapbox to stand on and extol the virtues of the Google platform,” said Andy Zeinfeld, CEO of Simplexity, parent company of Wirefly.com.

According to market research firm NPD Group, Google’s Android mobile operating system (OS) has usurped Apple’s OS in popularity in the U.S., garnering 28 percent of the smartphone market share over iPhone’s 21 percent in the first quarter of 2010.
