Denver, CO (PRWEB) October 12, 2012

Fentress Architects and renowned childrens app developer Soma Creates are thrilled to announce the launch of their unlikely collaboration, Clover. An interactive childrens book designed exclusively for Apples iPad, Clover is the touching story of an adorable and curious dog whose misadventures leave her stranded on the other side of the world. To find her way home again, she teams up with a friendly, street-wise rat and travels from Paris to Moscow to Beijing. Along the way, Clover discovers some of the worlds most iconic works of architecture, while learning valuable lessons about the nature of friendship and home.

Clover represents a complete re-imagining of what it means to be a childrens book in the digital age. Dispensing with static pictures and even the idea of distinct pages, Clover allows children to control of the movement of the characters and the progression of the story with simple finger swipes. Rich animations and lushly illustrated moving backgrounds engage children on a level not possible with traditional paper books.

The release of the Clover app is a creative departure for Fentress Architects, which is known worldwide for its innovative designs of airports, museums, mixed use towers, and other building types. Yet it is very much in line with the firms philosophy, says firm Founder and Design Principal, Curtis Fentress: Were devoted to sharing great design with the world. We see this book as a way of introducing children not only to architecture, but to the wider world thats out there.

Fentress Architects, which is currently completing the $ 6 billion modernization of the International Terminal at LAX, decided a digital storybook would reach children in a way no other medium could. This isnt a textbook about architecture, Curtis Fentress says. This is a way for children to relate to architecture on a personal level.

From the Eiffel Tower in Paris, to St. Basils cathedral in Moscow, to the Forbidden City in Beijing, the architecture featured in Clover is among the worlds most memorable. We purposely selected works that most children would find fascinating, says Josh Heidebrecht, Clover co-creator and Soma Creates founder. Each building is from a different culture and shows a different perspective on the world. Calgary-based Heidebrecht consulted extensively with child psychologists during the creation of several of his highly-successful childrens apps for such characters as Strawberry Shortcake and Olivia. What he learned from those psychologists influenced every aspect of Clover, from the style of animation to the speed with which children scroll through the app.

Curtis Fentress was inspired to create Clover after his real-life Scottish Terrier by the same name leapt into Fentress suitcase while the architect was packing for a business trip. Fentress Architects teamed up with Soma Creates shortly afterward to create the digital storybook. Who knows whats going to inspire some child out there to go into architecture, Fentress says. Maybe that inspiration will come from a great building, or maybe from the story of a dog trying to find her way home.

Clover is available exclusively for the Apple iPad for $ 2.99 through iTunes. However, as a special introduction, Clover will be available free-of-charge this Saturday, October 13th .

Maths Week Ireland is a nationwide celebration of the wonders of mathematics. Throughout the week, children of all ages come together from across the country and participate in fun activities to raise awareness of the importance of maths. It is perhaps therefore no surprise that Kumon, Irelands leading supplementary education provider, is supporting this years event.

Kumons unique maths programme has been nurturing confident, independent students with strong mental arithmetic skills for over 50 years. The unique method of learning is now available in over 47 countries across the globe, enabling more than 4.3 million students to realise their potential. Ever since the first Kumon study centre opened its doors in Ireland in 2000, the worksheet based study programme has soared in popularity and there are now 18 study centres throughout the country.

Kumon is passionate about spreading a love of learning in each student and believes that strong maths and English skills are the foundations for all academic and personal success. Kumon is therefore thrilled to be supporting an event which is dedicated to increasing awareness of the importance of maths, and hopes this years Maths Week will be the most successful event yet.

The competition

Maths Week 2012 will begin on 13 October and on the same day Kumon will launch an exclusive competition to win a new Apple iPad, with two runner-up prizes of 50 One4all vouchers. For a chance to win, children should submit their 100 word entry via our website starting with Without maths we wouldnt have. The competition is designed to increase childrens awareness of the fact that maths is integral to so much of what we do, each and every day.

The competition will run until 13 November and the lucky winner will be announced on the website on 20 November. Instructors across Ireland will be encouraging their Kumon students to participate, but the competition is open to all children aged five to 18 who reside in the Republic of Ireland.

Kumon hope this competition will encourage children to speak with their families and friends about why maths is so important in elements of their lives they may not have previously considered. Through advanced study, Kumon believes all children can realise their unlimited potential and each Instructor looks forward to developing many more local children through the individualised study programmes.

Richard Trimmer, Kumon Ireland Regional Manager says: I am delighted that Kumon is supporting this event and I am sure that during the week children will rediscover just how much fun maths can be. Since Kumon believes in helping all children improve their understanding of maths and English, which will unlock so many doors for them in the future, we wish Maths Week continued success.

All Kumon study centres throughout Ireland offer a Free Assessment. This diagnostic test enables children to find out where on the Kumon programmes their journey would begin and how their study would be individualised to their needs from the outset.

Color Car Mania is an interactive iPad game aimed to captivate a childs attention. Played with up to four participants, the object is to find cars of certain colors while on car trips or watching the road. Certain colors are worth a specified amount of points. The player with the most points wins!

When a player spots a car of a certain color, they call out its color. The players and their points are displayed in each corner of the iPad screen. When the other players confirm that the callout is correct, that car is dragged from the middle of the screen to the players corner and points are automatically updated for that player.

Players can choose a cartoon character image, name the character and find cars of a range of colors including yellow, red, blue, green and orange. Color Car Mania can be customized in terms of which color cars to put in play, and how many points each color should be valued at. The game can also be played in a timed mode or infinite mode. Players can decide a determined amount of time for a timer that will count down on the game screen. Whoever has the most points at the end of the determined time frame, wins!

An added twist to Color Car Mania is the Wild Car. This Wild Car option can include police cars or obscure colored cars, like pink. The Wild Car is worth additional points and certainly keeps players on their toes by changing every two minutes!

Color Car Mania is both entertaining and educational. It is well suited for car trips, both for long trips and errand runs (passengers only of course). Color Car Mania is also perfect for any down time in which a street is in view, including porch sitting, outdoor sporting events, restaurants or waiting and lobby rooms.

Color Car Mania is available for download in the iTunes store at http://bit.ly/gjInCv for only $ 0.99! Please visit the iTunes store to see additional screenshots and learn more about this great new game!

Chun Jia from AwesomeMuMu.com first heard about the Tree of Life from a very successful business woman who attributes much of her success to the tree just outside her bungalow.

This woman believes that it has improved her life, relationships and business and even helped deepen her spirituality. As she talks to her tree every day, she has come to see it as a very tangible version of the mystical Tree of Life that, for centuries, has been a theme in world theologies, mythologies and philosophies.

Inspired by this concept, Awesome MuMu iPhone and iPad app was created so that everyone, both adults and kids alike, can pick treasures from the sky and ‘grow’ their own Tree of Life, while experiencing the mystical wonder of watching new life come out of it.

“Everyday I would make and ‘grow’ a Tree of Life, either in pencil drawings or sketches in my sketch book,” says Chun. “Having an iphone app makes it even easier for me to create my own Tree of Life everyday and to easily share with my friends. If you can make, visualize and ‘grow’ your Tree of Life every day for the next 60 days, you will soon see all the goodness coming into your Life. And this is an awesome Tree that does not need watering or sunlight!”

Inside the game app, every night, the giant mystical creature, MuMu, and her little friend with golden hair sit on top of a house, looking up towards the sky filled with treasures and jewels.

MuMu owns a magical wand and grabs colorful gems in the sky for the little girl. Each of the treasures represents a life gift that earns players corresponding points. The collection of treasures is hung on the mystical Tree of Life the more there are on the tree, the more luck it will bring.

With some twists and turns, this brand new iPhone game for kids and iPad game for family promises to keep the adventure going.

Instead of cabbage and carrots, the game app allows one to reap gems that bring good fortune and success. There’s a certain calmness and serenity to the endeavor of gathering treasures to keep a Tree of Life rich and abundant. It’s a welcome change from all the busyness one get involved in opening yet another virtual cafe.

The app has a total of 3 levels. The Tree of Life can be unlocked at Level 2 and Level 3. Players can post their scores to the leader board on OpenFeint for keeping track of their own scores or challenge their friends.

The Tree of Life can also be posted on Facebook and Twitter so that anyone can see the progress of the Tree of Life as it gets filled with treasures.

Ampullarius LLC, developer of children-oriented iOS and Android games, is proud to present its new iPad game called Control Center for Kids. The game is already available on the App Store: http://itunes.apple.com/us/app/control-center-for-kids/id467174135?l=ru&ls=1&mt=8 This app allows children to develop their imagination and helps them to get acquainted with the surrounding world.

When children play, they imagines themselves as a brave pilots, an intrepid captains, an unbeaten race drivers or a famous astronauts. They conquer the ocean depths, explore unchartered waters, travel to new planets, all without leaving backyards. All this activities happen with the help of their toy contraptions. But how to manage such amazing things, such as a plane made from a cardboard box? This can be done with a new Control Center for Kids app by Ampullarius, LLC.

Gameplay video is available on YouTube: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XR4F0W5BW24

This game cannot be lost, it puts no pressure upon a kid with goals to achieve or gaming situations. This is what children really miss in such games. Now they can study objects and images on the screen with a lot of attention and dont have to worry about the ticking clock or that their next touch will finish the game.

Older kids will be definitely interested in realistic behavior of all knobs, steering wheels and levers. They can be touched, spun or moved, all this being accompanied by a sound corresponding to the situation. The parents will appreciate the fact that one cannot navigate anywhere outside the app without having to close it. The game doesnt open links or use pop-up windows.

The first version of the app allows traveling everywhere man has set foot: under water, on water, on land, in air and in space. The future updates will cover different aspects of professional activities. However one thing that is not planned to feature in the game is military equipment.

The game is currently available on the App Store for $ 2.99.

The developers team would love to see pictures of kids playing the exciting Control Center for Kids game. The pictures can be shared at the game Facebook page: http://www.facebook.com/ControlCenterForKids

Memory on Demand, LLC announces the Beta release of Focus GPS, an Apple iPad app designed to enhance the memory, concentration, and organizational capabilities of children and adults with ADHD.

Focus GPS, currently in testing with children and adults who have ADHD, supports three critical executive functions: memory, concentration, and organization. The software permits ADHD users to easily step through complex thought processes and effectively manage shifting priorities. This Beta version of Focus GPS is the culmination of 20 years of daily use, testing, and continual improvements.

The founder of Memory on Demand, Ray E. Omholt, suffered a stroke in 1990 that damaged his executive functions. In the years following, he researched the working of the brain and its ability to remember, concentrate, and organize facts and thoughts. Based on his research and over twenty years of empirical development, Omholt created Focus GPS, the software he now uses daily to support his memory and increase his organizational capabilities.

Omholt explains, My software discoveries made it possible for me to lead a normal life in spite of the damage to my executive functions resulting from my stroke, so it seemed reasonable to me to think that these discoveries could very well be equally valuable to others faced with similar problems.

Based on this conviction, Omholt founded Memory on Demand in 2010, a company dedicated to the development of executive-function apps for pads, smartphones, and desktop computers to strengthen the academic and cognitive performance of children and adults with ADHD.

Memory on Demand, LLC, does not stand alone in recognizing the needs of individuals with ADHD for special support. Nationally recognized ADHD experts such as Dr. Edward Hallowell, M.D., Dr. Ruth Hughes, CEO of CHADD (Children and Adults with ADHD) ,and Dr. L. Alan Sroufe, professor emeritus at the University of Minnesota, have all publically stated that children with ADHD can benefit from support above and beyond that provided by medications alone, however helpful such medications may be.

Focus GPS recognizes and capitalizes on the ways that the brain and eyes work together. Its patent pending design greatly simplifies the prioritization and analysis of thoughts, tasks, and decisions by utilizing side-by-side (pair-wise) comparisons which enable users to rapidly organize and accurately prioritize unrelated complex thoughts, considerations, and action items.

Memory on Demand, LLC, is located at 668 Kadar Drive, West Chester, PA 19382. Its website is http://www.memory-on-demand.com. Call 1-800-398-1157. Contact: John Snider, john(at)memory-on-demand(dot)com

With the right preparation, parents can reduce the stress associated with traveling with small children. Jay@Play, the maker of CuddleUppets, offers tips to make summer travel with children more enjoyable.

Make Children Comfortable: CuddleUppets are an ideal travel toy — perfect for entertaining and comforting children in unfamiliar surroundings. CuddleUppets combine a cuddly blanket and a cute puppet. The soft plush head can be used as a travel pillow, and children can keep warm on chilly planes using the fuzzy blanket. Jay@Play currently offers six CuddleUppet styles: pink poodle, blue elephant, purple monkey, yellow puppy, green crocodile, and brown bear.

Pack a Snack: With the exception of international flights or trips in first class, meals on airplanes are a thing of the past. Parents can plan ahead for the plane by packing their child’s favorite treats. Beverage service is often slow, so it is a good idea to bring bottled water onto the plane. Since passengers cannot carry beverages through airport security, purchasing a water bottle with a built-in filter, such as the Bobble which retails for under $ 10, to fill up at an airport drinking fountain is a smart and thrifty idea.

Make a Mix: The right tunes make a road trip more enjoyable and more memorable. Most parents remember remember the fun of making mix tapes or CDs when they were teens. Tapes may be obsolete, but children can assemble a playlist of their favorite travel songs. While adults may not enjoy Justin Bieber, listening to their children’s favorite songs can be a great bonding experience.

Apps are Appealing: Children can pass the time by playing an app on a smartphone or iPad. Games such as MushABellies keep children occupied during flight delays or traffic jams. Jay@Play introduced 6 new MushABellies for kids of all ages: Heckle the Hedgehog, Buzzie Bee, Mungo Monkey, Racket Raccoon, Finless Frog, and Conan Cow. Every MushABelly comes with a free 3D augmented-reality (AR) game, powered by Jay@Play’s ToyTube Network. The MushABelly 3D AR blends the game world and the real world using a smart phone device and exclusive, patented augmented reality from software developer Gravity Jack.
