Of course it is wise.
Windows 7 is fast, very reliable, nice aero features, plus loads and loads of new features.
And from my personal experience, i installed win7 on one of my laptops. This one is a celeron M processor, 512mb ram, integrated graphics and runs win7 real smooth and i have full aero desktop. You can check out the features of win7 on this website

5 To 6 Years Back You Won’t Have Asked This Sort Question, People Use To Think New Windows Is Better, But Vista Changed That All As It Was Having Many Bugs. So It Windows XP Was Considered Better Than Vista. But This Is Not The Case With Windows 7, It Is Having No Bug Or Big Bugs Like Vista. It Surely Better Than Vista And Even XP And 2000.
So According To Me It Is Better To Use Windows 7, If Your Computer Has Recommend Requirement For Windows 7.
Ya ofcorse it is sensible to change windows xp to windows7.It is far much better than xp.It has certain advanced features.
It is definitely a wise choice to make the switch (if you are willing to spend some money). You may be asking this because you know how terrible Windows Vista was. It had terrible bugs, and on one occasion it shut down while I was typing and I lost my file. That won’t happen with Windows 7. It has useful features, is more reliable and safer than Windows XP. If you have adequate requirements, you should definitely run Windows 7. Furthermore, more and more applications are being created for Windows 7. Compatibility is an issue right here so if you need to use the applications incompatible with Windows 7, I’m afraid you just have to ditch the idea unless you can get substitutes. But decide well. Of course in my case I would get Windows 7 (I’m using it right now) but in your case I’m not sure.
In conclusion if you don’t have any compatibility issues you should certainly get Windows 7. If you do, stick with XP…
