Well his computer should of come with a DELL XP CD. Reinstall Windows. He will lose all his data so I suggest you find a way to back it up first.

Well the best way to do it is to contact a fellow computer nerd and have them either make you a Window Xp Cd like the one that came with your computer. But it would be great if you could find that CD unfortunately you can’t buy one of those Cd’s. Once you do that click F11 as you computer starts up and restore the whole thing. And whatever happened to your computer that caused this was probably someone deleted the system32 file from the start-up menu. Good luck to you hope this answer was helpful.

Buy a Mac if you have the money. And if you don’t, reinstall Windows. If you have the disk, just pop it in and reinstall. If you don’t, there are plenty of tutorials about it if you just googe/bing search it.
trust me ive been thru dis..
wat u need 2 do now is install os again…
if u want to back up the files in that hard drive just plug it in other comp, i mean the normal one (which already have os in it) ….
and then, there you go…
