Question by kerc: Does anyone know when “windows 7″ will be viewable?
When will we be able to so how the OS works, how it looks.
It sounds pretty cool from some of the things I’ve heard.

Windows 7? What is that??
it already is to some degree, you just need to be a corporate partner of M$ .
right now it looks exactly like Vista but, will be made much more light weight through the introduction of a more palettable kernal.
it’s supposed to reach GA (general availability) in 2010 after an excellerated 3 year development cycle. final release will be based on quality of code. you could probably expect to see M$ ‘s partners getting exposed to a beta early next year – like Q1 or Q2. as of right now, they’ve only acheived Milestone 1. Milestone 2 is scheduled for late April – mid May of this year.
good things are in store for Windows users, methinks.
MS is saying in ’09 which probably means at lease one year beyond that. Add at least another year for the bugs to mostly be worked out. If the don’t do a better job on user interface than they did with Vista, I hope it never gets to market. Their ideas of improved make me wonder what they are smoking and or drinking. Vista works great, just not at all friendly with power users.
windows 7 is a product of rumors. There are always prototypes shown to people, but most never turn into a product.
There will be a follow-up to vista, but what features it will have is not known.
When you ask Bill Gates for permission and pay $ 1,000,000.00
So far I’ve heard it looks like Vista. XP looks similar to 98, no? 98 looks like 95, etc. I heard the testers (beta?) are not seeing any/much difference. I hope they change the search files and folders back. And ask you if you WANT account control limitations. It’s overkill imho. Enjoy it if I’m not doing anything. It kind of shows you want its going on a lot. But I’m usually too busy to deal with it or read it.
