Question by : Windows 7, “could not find this item” error?
Hi, i’m trying to delete a shortcut from my desktop, but when i try, it says “could not find this item, this item is no longer located in C\program files, etc.”

any suggestions?

1. What shortcut are you trying to delete?

2. Does it happen only with some application shortcuts or any particular shortcut?

First check if you can move the icons without any issues from safe mode with networking.

Also you can try to delete the ghost icon from safe mode with networking.

If the above step fails then you scan the computer for any malware or virus infection.
