Question by Peach!: How to get rid of a virus on my computer?
Hi, my computer is going very slow. and I think it is because of a virus. I think I have an idea of what it might be.
Sometimes there is a “new hardware” thing when I log in, and when I try to close it, it just keeps popping up. Also, in windows task manager, there are 8 “svchost.exe” files. Is this a virus, or normal? If it is a virus, how do I fix it?
Many icons won’t open. For example, when I click on “Internet Explorer”, an “open with” box thing, and whatever I click on, it won’t open. The only way I’m on the internet is because we have an email icon and it workds for some reason.
I’ve tried getting on the internet on “safe mode” to download anti virus stuff, but it won’t let me because of the “open with” box. I already scanned my whole computer with AVG, but there was no change.
What can I do to erase this virus? Any help will be appreciated!

Download Malwarebytes and perform a scan. Also try to download firefox to get online.
Also download Avast and try doing an boot scan.
If you cannot find anything then I would say to pull out your OS or restore disks and reload .

Scan and delete everything that it finds
After it.. Uninstall AVG as it’s a dumb antivirus
Pick Avast!, Avira, or MSE to replace it

Try Save as download malwarebytes in desktop.

You need open Safe Mode because Malwarebytes can get rid of viruses/threats and ect.
Restart computer, Hold press F8 and Safe Mode With Networking
Download FIRST Malwarebytes then install.
Open Malwarebytes and Check update then Full Scan now.
Malwarebytes Anti-Malware, They can kill viruses/threats.

Before you can use an antivirus program, you need to restore your EXE file association. Follow the instructions in the following link :

After you have restored the EXE file association, then you can download and run Malwarebytes Antimalware.

First you need to fix the ‘open with’ problem. To do that, download and run the following file to fix your registry. The file needs to be merged into your registry.

Sometimes the infection on your computer tries to block removers from running. If you have problems running MBAM, you will first need to download and run this file:
