Question by Raging:247: I unplug my PC for 2 days to move house, and now I can’t watch videos that use Windows Media Player. Why?
I didn’t make any manual changes. I have downloaded the new version of Media Player but that doesn’t help. I can view videos on Google Video and YouTube that have their own players, but not videos on yahoo Movies, kontraband etc. It simply says, “Play” on bottom of Windows Media Player screen, but the clip won’t load. Suggestions? Very confused!!!

You seem to have lost the associateion.
Right click the file, select Open With – choose Windows Media Player and check the box that says “Always use this program to open files of this type.”

I honestly don’t know, but MAYBE the program got installed????
plug the computer back in and ease off the heavy drinking. joking
First of all, dont use windows media player. There are far too many exploits out there that can attack your box through WMP. I personally like winamp, or VLC.
Anyways, moving would not have changed this. It could be that the movie is still loading when you are clicking play. Try installing VLC, and if you’re using Firefox install its plugin. Also, it could be a codec issue. Try opening a file you could view before you started having this issue; if it works then its the file on the website not your PC.
