In other words: Around the globe, universal symbol in e-mail has ‘crazy’ translations
The squiggly “at” symbol found in e-mail addresses is more colorful in translation. It is called an elephant’s trunk in Sweden – and in Serbia, a monkey; in South Korea, a snail; and in Taiwan, a little mouse. Regardless of the language, the symbol has come a long way since it was plucked from obscurity by e-mail godfather Ray Tomlinson back in computer-heady 1971.
