As recently reported on the Technology2Reality Blog (http://technology2reality.com/blog/wp-admin/post.php?post=52&action=edit), the spate of attacks on Google Inc.’s global servers was alleged to have been carried out by the Chinese government.  The Chinese government denied these alligations and attempted to spin the issue in an attempt to create political controversy and tensions between powers.

Now, according to recently released Wikileaks documents, it turns out that China was indeed responsible for the attacks on Google’s systems (http://news.yahoo.com/s/afp/20101128/tc_afp/usdiplomacymilitaryinternetwikileakschinagoogle).

This raises major concerns where user privacy and data security are concerned and calls into question whether or not any data kept online is safe at all from intrusion or disruption.

Google announced the launch of “Google Cloud Connect”, a Google Beta add-on designed especially for Microsoft Office (2003, 2007 and 2010) that syncs documents, spreadsheets and presentations with the Google Docs Cloud Business App.  Office documents synchronized with Google Cloud Connect are assigned a unique URL and can be shared collaboratively.   All changes made to a document are constantly synchronized to anyone who shares the document providing a truly live document sharing experience.

The new Office add-on is based on a productivity tool called DocVerse that Google originally acquired in the earlier part of 2010.  At the time of this writing, Google had already closed the open beta sign-up due to overwhelming response from interested Business Apps users.  Clearly this add-on is already “in-demand” and will be very popular once released to the masses.
