Question by Ethan: Can you hide a VMware or VirtualBox virtual machine from the launcher?
What I mean is have it so that this virtual machine is entirely hidden when not in use, but them still run it when I need to use it.
To be honest, I plan on using this virtual machine for porn (to make full use of links, shortcuts, file management, etc.), but I don’t want people poking around on my computer to be able to easily find it.
Ideally, it would involve mounting a TrueCrypt drive that has the virtual machine stored in it, so I can mount and run it from there.

Do you mean that you’re trying to run the VM, but have it hidden from youself? Meaning no visible windows or taskbar tabs/icons?

It’s very easy. Of course, the more RAM the better, but the software “Boot Camp” is now included with Leopard. For full instructions, just check out the link!

All versions of Windows use drive space as RAM by default. It’s virtual memory’s Pagefile.sys.

I don’t think windows would run with that processor, so they probably don’t make VMware for it

Unfortunately you are stuck with Virtual PC for your G5 iMac as VMware is only suited to Intel Macs.

Unfortunately it Virtual PC on a G5 runs like a PIG even when you have a lot of RAM.

What do you need to run Windows for anyway?

As many know in windows 7 you can use windows xp mode as a virtual machine. Well i installed xp mode to find out WMM doesn’t work so does it just not work with XP mode or all virtual machines?

Question by evperry: If I install VMware on my bootcamp partition running Vista will it have the exact same software?
that is already installed in Windows Vista? or will I have to reinstall everything over again?

Answer by Pervalicious
I think you are missing the concept of virtual machines hence the VM in VMware. It is not made to replace an operating system like vista, it is to create virtual machines while on an existing OS, so no it will not have all the same programs because as far as the software in the VM is concerned, it is a totally different machine.
